I have bought myself a few microfibre covered sponges and got myself so autoglym stuff!

I got:
Autoglym shampoo and conditioner which is far better than this crappy stuff I used to use..
Autoglym super resin polish, this is awesome and gives it an amazing mirror shine..
And Autoglym High gloss protection, I'm not really sure of any noticeable affect this has but I use it anyway..
First I'm after some decent buckets cause ours are ******.
At the moment I just use a... I'll say 'well used' car sponge. Anything decent you can buy other than a simple sponge?
Also I want to buy some high quality wax but ain't sure what to get because I see hard and soft waxes everywhere and I don't have a clue which to choose for my black car? Like all of the different dodo ones.. Anyone got any others to contemplate either?
What else could I buy at a decent cost to protect my paintwork aswell as making it look Lush?

Thanks guys!

You can get good sponges, which have a more open texture to them than the general foam sponge . Alternatively a microfiber or lambs wool mit.

A grit guard allows the crap to settle out and gives you something to rub the mit/sponge against to loosen any debris from it.

Any decent size bucket to take the grit guard, plus another for the 2BM. Having the grit guard wedge half way down the bucket gives you plenty of room to rinse the mit, but also plenty of room at the bottom of the bucket for grit and muck to settle out... Cheap ones from the supermarket etc are just as effective at holding water for a wash. Some of the expensive ones have sealed lids for traveling with full buckets, but are a bit excesive price wise for use on your drive.

A MF drying towel should allow fairly safe drying.

'Poorboys Black hole glaze' is said to be good for hiding minor swirls/defects on black/dark paints

I use a microfibre basics of bling dodo sponge on my car and it's brilliant :)
The high gloss protection autoglym stuff I just use on my black bits.. A bit awkward for you I suppose :p
Drying towel ftw!
I got. Buckets from b and q to use for wash they cost £1.50 each and are fab :)
And for wax I have been using dodo purple haze - not meant for White cars but hey I've got a dark car too ;) - which is also great!

Good stuff! I want a bucket with a grit guard, drying towel because I keep using my mums haha and some crazy shiney wax.. I was looking at purple haze, but also the supernatural stuff? What does that stuff do different?

Supernatural is just the best wax it can be whilst being as pure and as substantially natural as it is possible to be.

I love my pot, but hybrid is also very nice and available in 100ml. Neither is technically better, I discussed this with dom at the weekend and the jist is... hybrid and the original are as good as each other, but hybrid should be easier to maintain as it's more or less detergent proof whereas the original was not. Neither would last longer than the other in theory, given the right circumstances. But more are more likely to see longer from hybrid as it's less likely to go wrong through washing ;)

Any other questions, feel free to ask. I've got many hundreds of products :p and have used everything a few times at least. I'm no pro but very interested in the products, the science behind them, and love trying something new!

I take a keen interest in anything detailing related  and I'm always happy to help and share my thoughts

You can't go far wrong with supernatural. It competes with other high end and boutique waxes, certainly lasted as long as zymol glasur when looked after properly, which when you consider how much you can get a 200ml pot of supernautral and how much glasur is, coming only in 250ml...

Tesco have black 12litre buckets on offer at the moment £1.50, down from £2.50. Look ideal for a grit guard to go in

Just been out and bought a big black sturdy bucket for £2.99 haha got myself some interior shampoo by Autoglym, some bumper care by Autoglym and some Meguiars carnauba wax! Altogether just shy of £20. My girlfiend said on payday she's gonna buy me a decent car drying towel or shamois, either the Meguiars one, Autoglym one or the cheap Valdosta one haha

If you go for the Meguiars Water Magnet it's pretty good at drying but I found it went rough feeling after a short time so that's now assigned to glass and under bonet drying only.

The towels mentioned above are exceptionally good though. I have two of them from CleanYourCar and recently bought this one from Shinerama and it's identical - https://www.shinearama.co.uk/product.php?id=VAL-GIANTPLUSH

Only thing I would say is, don't put it in the washing machine with anything else as the blue dye comes off them something chronic.

The other towel I bought recently for using on my Megane is Chemical Guys Miracle Dryer Microfibre Towel. It's absolutely massive and as good at drying as the towel above. More pricey but you're getting a much bigger towel. :)

I'd go for a microfibre drying towel over a waffle weave type one. I find the microfibre ones better at soaking up the water as well as being safer.
