Just come back from my friends house and I love the drive back. Some of the roads are mint but tonight something weird happened. Driving round the corners, no matter what corner it was, traction control light would come on solid, kill all power and the car jerked. Turned it off, the car was fine. Hasn't been raining, tyres have plenty of tread, brakes have plenty of meat left, nothing loose, my dads checked it coz I Got work tomorrow so I'm stuck?? Another Renault job?

Ps: Sorry if I posted this in the wrong bit, couldn't find where to put it so please move if necessary

I'm tempted coz I've never seen it come on before. Just proper weird.

very odd. I have no idea how it works to suggest what's playing up.

I do find it comes on to easily when going out for a blast.

The only time mine has been obtrusive was when the left rear tyre was flat and was about to come off the rim.

Three wheels around a roundabout and barely a flicker from the TC light

Drive harder man ;)

joking apart it is very good, to do have to be pressing on before it intervenes. Other cars I have had have been much worse. My Alfas traction control just seemed to flicker a light and not do anything else.

My mates Astra is the the worse I have seen, at the first sign of you having any fun the bugger saps all the power until you start behaving, plus theres no way to turn it off, the fuse is the same one as the ABS.

Singlespeed, this is what I don't get. This is the 1st time I've seen it and I have been known to give it some from time to time. Doing nothing different and it's gone nuts. Drove to work this morning and it came on going round a bend on the a38. Was dangerous coz it's a 70mph road. Turned it off and the cars fine. The cars been up in the air this morning before work and couldn't find anything loose. Another trip to Renault :(

Edit - forgot to mention, the light comes on solid, it doesn't flicker

Think I'd take it to a dealer to be safe. Don't really want your TC messing up.

I'm presuming you'll be going nowhere near a co-op garage

Definitely not. Gonna have to try and find another one because both local ones are co op

I got my car from madeley Heath near stoke and they were very good on that side, can't say anything specific about the service side as didn't use that. Smiths Peterborough are very good but a bit of a trek for you. I've heard some good things about the Chesterfield Renault, but not used them myself

Have you checked your tyre pressures? The low profile and reinforced sidewall can hide a lot.

It was getting on for two miles before I could safely stop and change my tyre (left rear). The side wall had started to melt and the bead was coming off the rim, hence zero pressure, but the height of the sidewall didn't look too bad when compared to normal. Right hand bends were becoming interesting :?

Yeah it is. Til October thank goodness. Tyre pressures are all ok, had the car in the air again tonight. Nothing loose at all. Off to Renault Chesterfield friday

I'd get it in to Renault to be honest mate, especially if it's still in warranty. Could well be some daft electrical fault if you know you're not pushing it beyond the limits.

I've not had the traction control light come on in my Twingo but in my Clio 172, if you pulled away a little sharp in the wet you might get a flicker.

Also the only time I've ever felt the power drop in my 225 was a combination of a sharp right turn, 2nd gear and it suddenly coming on boost, felt the power dip briefly before I was easing off the throttle anyway.

ok so after having something done with my ecu, thought the issue with my traction control was sorted.

driving it today and the car wont turn left without the traction control coming on, but it will turn right perfectly fine

renault are now sayng my cars out of warranty and are unwilling to do anything

to say im ducked (or something that rhymes with) off is an understatement!!!

i have paid for a extra years warranty but thats with the AA so im going to have to ring them tomorrow and see if that covers it.

if not im going to have to ring RUK AGAIN!!!

surely rensult offer a warranty on the parts they replace or do something with? like our work offer a 90 day warranty on replaced parts after manufacturers waranty run out?

What's the condition of your tyres? Mine have done 10000 miles now and past their best. Traction isn't what it was, just leaving it off a little longer before I get the new tyres on the rear and swap them over. I notice the traction control tends to make itself known much more than previously, but I tend to drive with it off anyways

they are pretty much brand new. probably 1000 - 1500 miles on them. needed swapping for MOT
