Hi all,

My 2008 GT (apparently the previous owner had it remapped by K-tec to 120bhp) has gradually been losing power and I noticed over the past few weeks that I could hear (what I'm pretty sure is...?) the blow-off valve whooshing for longer and more often than before. Funnily enough, as this gradual process was occurring the car suddenly lost about 60% of its power and the service light came on. I brought it to a garage immediately and the mechanic told me the turbo pipe had literally popped off. He sorted this for me and seemed to think the car was fine now.

However the car is still significantly down on power (no real boost) and even under partial throttle the blow-off valve seems to be eh...'open'? It's meant to release exhaust fumes after you come off the throttle, right? That's what I used to hear at any rate.

Is this what the problem sounds like from my description of it i.e. a faulty blow-off valve? If so, is it a common issue and an easy enough fix?

Thanks.

After doing a bit of research it looks like my car has the K-Tec dump valve...

Is it possible it's just the spring in it that's gone? Can you buy these separately?

It sounds like the blow of valve has seized up. All you'll need to do is to take it apart. Replace the o-rings inside and then put some silicone lubricant over the o-rings and the metal piston and it should work perfectly normally
