Hi Anyone got any good ideas as why my fuel gauge suddenly read empty and flashed, now it reads full flashing. It is an 08 Twingo GT. been reliable up to date, if there is a simples solution, I would love to hear about it

Put some fuel in? Lols I'm kidding. Most likley a sensor? Or a catastrophic fuel leak but if you havnt noticed its prob a sensor.

Have a look at the top of the fuel pump you will have a plug on top with 4 wires in. The two thinner wires (think green and brown) are the level sender wires. See if plugs attached okay and have a wiggle of those wires to see if it makes a difference, could be a loose connection with one of those but otherwise I'd say its the level sender unit :)

garage tried the sender, disconnected it, checked the voltages across the terminals, all seemed ok, have got to visit dealer for wallet extraction tomorrow, will report back following onset of poverty. thanks for time taken to reply

just thinking, so not definate.

if it was the sender unit, the display would still function normaly although the contents indicated would show different to the actual level in the tank.

If theres a full indication which is flashing, maybe the low level indication which should only function on the last red bar is somehow triggering.

The Scenics were very prone to dash problems and theres a few places which can repair them by replacing blown components
