Quite a few of you will have heart about the now legendary TBM/2BM and thought what a load of ....

Having just had a look back through some of my pics, I re-found this shot, taken after a wash. One glass from the rinse bucket, so the stuff coming off the car. The other from the soapy wash bucket, so the water and soap going onto the car.

Might have to buy another bucket now, what's the grit catcher then ?

I sell the grit guards and detailing buckets mate.

The grit guard is basically a plastic cage that goes inside the bucket, at the bottom, to create a gap where dirt and grit can sink into, away from the water that you dip your sponge/mitt in, meaning that it doesn't get put back on the car.

Think when I pick the cup up I'll have to take a look at all my cleaning stuff and update it some what.

This wasn't pressure washed off first, as the P/W was broken. However, it was foamed with a Gilmour and hosed off before the wash to remove the easy to shift looser stuff.

Dunk the mitt into the soapy bucket, picking up a good portion of soapy water onto the panel. Wash a section, then rinse in the rinse bucket, rubbing against the grit guard to brush off anything. Wring out the mitt to remove as much mucky water and therefore small particles of dirt, then repeat.

The manky looking water was actualy taken from the water above the grit guard, not including the realy horrid stuff lurking at the bottom of the bucket.

Of all the detailing/cleaning products avaliable, a second bucket and grit guard are probably the best value for keeping wash damage to a minimum. You can however spend a packet on correcting any damage.

Had a look on eBay and now know what they look like and how they work etc simples. Will have to spend more money.

You got a link to yours on ebay Matt ?

It it certainly surprising the state of the rinse water when you wash a properly dirty car with the 2 bucket method.

I will always used a grit guard as it definitely helps get the crap off the mitt and keep it aways from the mitt when you are washing the car.

That said, I don't use the 2 bucket method on a car that's only been driven in fair weather. The Megane for example is washed after virtually each use and that's only on dry days. Same kinda goes for my Gordini as that's not seen any harsh weather. But the Mrs uses her's regardless of the weather and I don't always get to wash it every week so the 2 bucket method is the safest method without a doubt on a car that's properly dirty.

Hi mate

Here's the link:

Sorry I haven't been getting back to you on this and other things. There seems to be some sort of problem with my email notifications (I'm not getting any). I told Matt about it a couple of weeks ago and he said that there had been a problem but it had been sorted :s
