Just wondered how many miles people are getting out of their tyres and brake pads.

The Mrs car is about 20 months old and is just coming up for 12,000 miles. Had a look at the tyres today and at a guess I'd say they'd last another 8k+. That seems pretty good going for a sporty little car but just wondered if that's about right? I think we're relatively sympathetic on the car in general but nice to get an idea.

Same question for the brake pads, how long would you expect out of a set?

I'm talking about normal day to day driving, not you track driving lot haha

Mines going in today as my right pad on the front is shot!! An that is after 22500 of Milton Keynes driving

That's pretty good going, so by 'Milton Keynes driving' straight roads but braking for roundabouts? haha

bet you dont always need to brake for the roundabouts ;)

i got about 15k out of my oem pads and about 20k out of my apec ones

In an RS Twingo you really don't have to brake that much for roundabouts haha

What about tyres guys?

17k so far rear tyres the same from factory and now on my 3rd set of fronts at about 8k they have been changed both times.

Pads and discs all still the same.

So you're looking at 8k from a set of front tyres? Is that due to spirited driving young man? haha

Was just doing a comparison in my head (after the thought of that would require the car to be driven -sorry Karl), and pound per mile my bike tyres are working out pretty well. 3K miles and they're not far off new depth - brake pads changed about every 1000 miles but are dirt cheap  (Though go through my expensive disk-brake pads on my mountain bike faster )

Would try and offer you some insight, but I've only covered about 4.5K in the 133, and not had to consider changing tyres or pads yet.

Ive got Contis on my Road bike  so far 2000 miles on them i think at £32 a tyre. And brake pads 2400 miles they got changed at but thats just the rears the front are still fighting strong!

But we are talking about cars not bikes

my contis lasted 8k :(

the hankooks i got on now, im getting double that!!

My rear tyres are still factory tyres with LOADS of tread left, fronts are about to be replaced yet again. Get around about 8k per pair of contisport 3's.

Spirited driving is the norm for me.

So yeah point shoot and trail the brakes!

Or driving it properly ;)

My front conti's are lets say halfway used, the rear are still fine. Did 20000 km with the conti's and now its running on snowboots so I can still do about a year with them.

Brakes I dunno. Probaly at 40000 kilometer they'll be replaced when car goes in for the second maintenance.

1k miles and its all fine ;) brake disks we're really rusty when i got it though :/

Wouldn't be rust it's a mixture of warm brakes when stopping and cold weather and water turns the orange
