I was talking with my friends about uni today and I showed them a stupidly high offer I got ( 3 A*'s) for a mid range uni. When I was looking at my UCAS I saw that they had declined my offers I was given. I know for a fact that I accepted two of the offers (one of them was 3 B's and the other 1 B and 2 C's) now I've got to take a gap year. I have nothing planned, no one to go travelling with. Now I've got a choice to make; go travelling on my own, tag along with someone else, get a job and/or carry on with the subject that I dropped in AS levels or get an apprenticeship somewhere.

Couldn't you contact the universities admissions direct and explain the problem? They might still be willing to honour their offer. Or you could surely contact ucas and get them to rectify it or even go through clearing?

I've rang UCAS and they just said sorry the systems been closed there's nothing we can do but you could try ringing the universities and see what they say but I've got to wait until tomorrow to do that as they're not open now.

Yeah there still is clearly but the courses I've applied for don't have that many spaces so there's a high chance that I wont get in.

Just sat an economics exam today for BA Hons Management. What a ball breaker that was! Mind you I suck at eco!

This might be a bit of an odd suggestion... But i'm coming to the end of a teaching 1 year degree after doing another degree for 3 years before that (yawn). An apprenticeship might be a really good idea of a different route to go down, especially with the new tuition fees.

Don't get me wrong - going to University was a great life experience and I wouldn't change it at all- But those who take a more vocational route are more frequently in a better position than ex- students. after all you could still move away to have the "uni" experience away from home etc - but be on a paid apprentice ship at the same time.

on the other hand - clearing is always a good back up :) good luck!

Gap year 100%.
Biggest regret of mine not taking a gap year. Probably the only chance you'll get to have a year out exploring and experiencing amazing things!
Now I'm working, I've had to squeeze in mini gaps which is a right ball ache!
Pack a bag and go on your own. You'll meet loads of people on your travels.
