So I have a problem, my car makes the knocking sound (lower balljoints) and has done do since the day after I bought it..... how long can I wait before I get them replaced as I don't think I can afford £400 anytime soon..... But obviously I dont want to KO my car

When the MOT is due, you would have to get it sorted as split rubbers and play in the joint are a fail.

Worst case senario, the joint dislocates and the bottom of the hub carrier is no-longer attached to the wishbone. The wheel then does its own thing, probably taking the brake hose and maybe steering track rod with it too.

I take it theres no waranty... Although, saying that theres been several cars where RUK have made a decent contribution as a goodwill gesture towards the cost of replacing ones, where the car is outwith the waranty period

ah okay I will pop up to my local Renault garage then to get a quote, maybe take my girlfriend so she can work some magical discounts for me....
