Anyone got any experience with web hosting?
Not looking for anything massive, just to play around and learn with
Also what sort of prices do they start out and how much data do you get?

I've had quite a bit of experience with getting (& setting up) everything from simple html page type hosting, to full on server clusters. Price varies quite largely depending on what you need.

Do you have any particular web languages you already know/are looking to learn (like php, or ASP.NET, ASP, perl, html, etc, etc) and any database knowledge (e.g. MSSQL, MySQL, oracle etc) or would you be looking for more of a web-hosting with a site builder attached, or maybe even looking to install something like drupal, which once it's set up is pretty ace as a custom CMS?

i know quite a bit of html, and looking to learn anything which will help me!
ive got adobe dreamweaver cs5 so really im just looking at hosting sites.

have you got any recommendations of any good companies to use?

Have a word with Matt he owns the hosting that Twingo133.net runs off

For that level of stuff I can say that CWCS and rackspace have hosted well for me in the past, and gave very good service - but there are probably cheaper options.

You might find that someone like 123reg or uk2.net will give everything you're after quite cheaply (though I haven't used them personally before - so can't vouch for customer service etc, but they're cheap so could well be worth a look, and I know of other people who have said both of these two have been fine for them a while back).

You'll find lots of other companies on the web too, as there are plenty of perfectly good hosting companies around.

w3schools is definitely a good reference for HTML and JS scripting. Keeps you in line with the standards.

cheers for all the help guys, gonna have a look at it all tonight to keep my mind of getting my car tomorrow!
