I've been thinking about things for a while now...just life in general and how you should live it to the full etc..

im not happy where i am doing what im doing

im tempted to sell up and go travelling for a year... just see what happens whilst im away..something might come up.. if not.. when i get back go job hunting like mad or maybe start my own business up.

what do you think? has anyone done anything like this?

Its one of them one in a life time things mate do what your heart tells you.

exactly Karl, thats why i cant decide.. because it could lead on to great things.. but it could also screw me over big time...

Its hard my brother was going to go travelling but instead got married and now is a manager.

His mate still went travelling and found it hard to get a job when he got back.

Its hard as its your life not ours

well im going away for xmas and new year...gunna have a serious think about it then and discuss with my parents and see what they say.

Pritch,

Just remember, whatever you decide is the RIGHT decision.

Don't look back, don't regret your choices, and don't let ANYONE else decide for you.

It's YOUR life - live it to the full.

Good luck whatever you decide to do...

what iv found is that nothing changes form day to day and all u end up thinking is what if .....

so nxt year im going to take the plunge and do my new things and just see what hapens!i figure i can always go back to what im doing if things dont work out :?

best of luck whatever u decide

The decision to spend a year or so travelling is a very personal thing to do.

For me personally, I think it's a waste of time. The reason being is that I work in IT, have done since I was 19. I like working, it pays for the other things I enjoy like cars, music, gigs etc. For me to progress my career I have to keep a foot in otherwise you end up behind and it's really hard to get back into. To progress my career I'd have done myself no favours to take a year out. It's also the reason why I've ended up working alongside people 4 or 5 years older than because they've spent time out and then had to come back into the IT market.

That's for me and of course it depends on what your career is or if you've got age on your side. I'm 28 now so it wouldn't be an option but I feel that I've achieved a lot which I wouldn't have if I'd have gone travelling.

That is just one side of it though and is far from definitive! :)

All ill say is you live once so do want you want that feels right and hope it patys off and makes you happy.

I had a hard decision 3 years ago next month when i had to decide wether to continue doing A levels then get student loan, or take a job offer where i worked during the summer with my dad. Spent 2 weeks deciding but now glad i took the risk of the job. Then friend had similar decision and he's now jobless with only GCSE's behind him and hes struggling so really its just pot luck.
