Hello,

Just wanted to see what path people have been down in terms of car ownership to end up with a RS...

(I did a search and couldnt find a thread like this, if there is im sorry)

I have only been driving for six years (started when I was 22). swapping my car regularly has slowed down since getting a private plate, dealing with the bloody DVLA killed it.

Heres my list...

1994 VW Polo Coupe - only cost £300, but £1300 to insure, 990cc of pure fury.
1997 Renault Cilo 1.9d - cost nothing to run, easy got 60+mpg
2001 Fiat Marea 1.6sx - awful looking but handle very well, bought it when it was 3 years old and only cost 2k.
2004 Renault Megane 1.9dci (120) - first proper car, had every tick on the options list, should of kept this
2003 BMW 318ti compact - was a absolute bargain, however there was a wind noise coming from the wing mirror that BMW refused to fix.
2003 BMW 325ti compact (auto) - loved this car, had all the toys but was ruined by the autobox. Managed 155mph on the way to the 'Ring
2005 Honda Civic Sport 1.6 - buying this was the worse mistake of my life, soulless and completely and utterly dull, lasted 5 weeks.
2004 Alfa 156 JTS 2.0 - the best car I have ever owned. Cost me about 6k in two years in terms of modding and just keeping it on the road.
2008 Renault Megane 1.9dci (130) - remapped too 180bhp / 320lbs. had no end of problems with this.
2009 Renault Twingo RS 133 cupped - this best bang for car money can buy.
2007 Renault Clio RS 197 fullfat - only time will till.....

So far a car a year basically...

2005 1.2 mk2 Clio
2000 2.0 mk2 Clio PH1 (I learnt in one of these)
2010 Twingo 133 Cup

Past my test 23/12/2005

1981 Toyota Stalet = Bought for £400 rolled it then sold for £500.

1996 Ford Feista = Ended its live in a ford with a bent conrod or 2.

1985 Renault 5 Auto = Bought for £50 as needed a car after killing the Ford but blow the head gasket and sold for £75.

2003 Renault Clio = Replacement to the Renault 5 i killed.

2008 Renault Twingo GT = Got bored of the clio and always liked the Twingo so fought why not.

2009 Renault Twingo RS = Got a little bored of the GT and want something with a wider stance and the RS ticked every box. Cheap to run, Good on insurance, Good tax price, Great handling, Enough power and nothing being wasted, Looks stunning.

1989. Austin Maestro 1.3L - 2.0GTI suspension and brakes. ported head and LCB manifold
1994. Astra belmont 1.6 - Cammed and flowed, high compression skim. Weber carb. GTE brakes. A bit of a sleeper untill it was running then the exhaust and idle gave it away.
1997. Fiat Chinquecento Sporting - Lowered from day one. Ace car with loads of mileage up and down the country. Good on 3 wheels.
1998. Toyota MR2 2.0GTI - Eibach / Koni suspension and polly bushed. Chipped.
2003. Fiat Seicento Sporting - Standard except discs, pads and lines
2004. Westfield SEI 1700 - still have it
2005. Astra van - Standard
2007. Audi A3 1.9Tdi - chipped to 165 and loads of torque to begin with, then Intercooler and hybrid turbo with larger injectors. Coilovers and upgraded roll bars, polly bushed, big brake conversion.
2011. RS133 Gordini.

Mugs.

Like fook I can remember when I had my cars, but passed in Feb 2004 and since then I've had a '04 Pug 106 Independence (which I rolled and wrote off), W reg Clio Grande, P reg 106 XS (best car I think I've owned), '56 307 HDi Sport 110, '57 Twingo GT, '04 Clio 182.

Looks as if the Clio is for keeps, perfect for me. Quick. Reliable. Cheap to run (for a 2.0l sports car). Epic handling. Toys. What more does a man want or need from a car? When it dies, I'm going to rebuild the engine with cams and ITB's/JMS Manifold :)

It didnt do much damage ;)

As far as he knows it happened in tescos :p But he said he was restoring it so didnt matter

2001 Rover 25 Advantage 1.4 (Gold)
Loved this car, it was my pride and joy. Bought as Cat D, rebuilt. Ran ZR Suspension, some random back box that came on the car, K&N Induction Kit, Drilled and Grooved Discs, Team Dynamic Pro Race 1.2 in Black, EP3 CTR Seats, TRS 4 Point Harnesses, Cibie Turini 7" Spotlamps, Bonnet Pins, Momo Leather Steering wheel.
Headgasket went BIGTIME, couldn't be arsed paying more than the car was worth to fix it!

2001 Nissan Almera Sport + 1.8 (Silver)
I DID like this car....owner before had SLAMMED it, I couldn't fit my hand in between the rear arch and the tyre. Had some nice 17 Deep Dish Rims, Powerflow 4" Exit back box, K&N Filter. Had some damn good memories it this car ;) also some pretty shit ones..
Died after an Incident with a lampost on a motorway, shortly after a spin...or 3.

2003 Rover 25 GTI 1.8VVC (Silver)
Bought this on a whim off ebay, thought £800 for a GTI, BARGAIN! I had the plans to turn it into a track car. Picked it up from Blackpool and was THOROUGHLY surprised, fecking hell this thing was quick! Headgasket was already fixed, had a rattle in the Cat (didn't matter, it was gonna come out anyway). Stripped it all out, then looked at the insurance...
Was sold to a mate shortly afterwards

2004 Citroen C2 GT 1.6 (Red)
Picked this car up after a long drive to Goole.
It was alright, wasn't as nice as I had hoped, but it did me....until the Map Sensor went...then the Clutch, Gearbox and Diff all went at once..got traded in for the Twingo.

Now on the Twingo =D

Passed my test in 2004

1995 1.0L VW Polo mk3 - Inherited from my mum, in perfect condition and only 56k on was a perfect runner but sooo boring and slow! Couldent get up some hills in the lakes with 3 of my mates in  So kept this for a year and moved onto...

2005 1.2 Seat Ibiza mk4 - A marked improvement on the polo, got it brand new and kept it for 5 years only putting 24k on the clock, loved this car for 4 years then started to want something different, something nicer and quicker, so along came....

2010 RS Twingo 133 :D

1979 Citroen GS Pallas - lovely car when it worked
1986 FSO 125P - very reliable and much better than you'd think
1990 Citroen AX GT - fantastic little car, just as good as the Twingo in it's day
1993 Ford Orion 1.6 LX - well, it was transport...
1995 Hyundai Sonata 2.0 GLS - electric everything, a Lexus without the badge
1998 Rover 214i - what was I thinking of?
1999 Ford Focus 1.8 LX - brilliant chassis and quite quick with a 1.8
2001 Ford Mondeo 1.8 LX - not a patch on the Focus, but great when the kid's at Uni
2004 Citroen C2 VTS - the first one in Blackpool; great little car
2007 Citroen C2 Code - VTS with leather and a few more toys
2010 Renault Twingo 133 - Cup chassis and Black/White ID Pack
2013 ???

Passed my test may 2009

2002 vauxhall corsa sxi - How the modding madness started for me had a fair bit done to this car. owned for a year putting 35000 miles on the clock (No idea how:lol:)

2005 yaris t sport- Again heavily modded spent almost 4k in the short time that i owned it (5 months)

2010 twingo 133 cup :)
