What just happened?!

Was changing gear and my revs shot up to 4000rpm so I went into neutral not touching any pedals and it stayed at 4000 rpm for a good few seconds then settle down! Also after that on way home when Changing gear the car kept jolting and trying to take off when getting put Into gear ?! Any help lol

As the throttle is drive by wire, it is possible that its a sensor.

I would see if it does it again, possibly try reading any codes then disconnecting the battery to reset.
