To save another thread being cluttered...

I open the discussion to what makes something JDM style?

What design features/modifications do you feel are associated and make, the JDM/Japanese Tuner Style?

Discussion: OPEN!

JDM can mean different things though, take the JDM version of the hondas, they look pretty much the same as the standard ones, normally got a different map to standard and a few extra features and thats about it.

I suppose custom JDM would mean Carbon Fibre and big, loud exhausts, apart from that, not a lot.

To me, the above. That plus big body kits :)

Aaaaarrrrrrgggghhhh JDM isn't a style!!!!!!!!!

JDM is using OEM bits only available in Japan. Just cos it's made by a Japanese tuning company doesn't mean it's JDM.

Do people actually know what JDM stands for..........?

Japanese Domestic Market :)

ANd to me JDM is modding a japanese car using uprated parts from the same make. So doing a civic and slapping some big brakes from a legend or suspension parts from something higher up the model range for me.

Not necessarily a Jap car any car only available in Japan is covered. So in theory Twingos but they'll look standard there's no 'style' to them....

Quit your whining...tart
I merely called it that as that's what's in the Public Domain...if someone says their 3 Door Suzuki Swift is "JDM as F*ck", I usually respond by saying..."It's Hungarian as F*ck", but they always reply with, "And yours is Slovenian as F*ck...and Ok, but it's JDM style"

So, hence the question...what (in the Public Domain) would people see as "JDM Style"

im certain thats what i said and gave honda as an example?

but i also included what other people see JDM as?

Matt - Yes but you calling it only perpetuates the misnoma that JDM is a style.

My old civic more more JDM than UKDM yet you wouldn't know the difference!! hahahaha

Dave - wasn't talking to you

I would recognise an AE86 as a GT Apex before I recognised it as a Corolla GTI. Whether Levin or Trueno.
By all means, I wouldn't call someones FN2 Civic JDM as someone else wouldn't know what an FD2 is.

It's mearely what's in the public eye: I may be building on the misnomer that is "JDM Style" but it would be a helluva longer explanation to try and get what I meant across.
