What's A category on lisence?

Had to replace my paper part of my lisence so got sent both parts but the DVLA have added categories AM and A.

What are they? I thought A was for a full bike lisence but you have to be 24? I have never taken a CBT or rode a motorbike or even moped in my life!

Sounds like a DVLA mess up to me as AM Is moped an A is a full motorcycle license... Maybe worth a call?
