The Duster in particular appears to be pretty popular around here, so what's everyone's favourite Dacia and choice of spec?

When I was looking at them a couple of weeks ago (whilst waiting for an MOT) I think I was most impressed by the good ol' duster.

Though I've not spent too long specing one up, think I'd go for the 1.5dci 4x4 on a Ambiance spec.

So what do you like? Duster/Sandero/Sandero stepway/Logan MCV?

Well it looks like we may well be going for a Duster as the family car.

We want the top spec model as being a daily car, as much as I like the rugged approach I want aircon and electrics.

Laureate model, 4x4, and Adventurer Pack. :)

Duster Laureate 4x2!!!!!!

Im told mine will be here in April!!!!!!!!!!

If you go 4x4 you will joing the 6 month waiting list!

Ouch, 6 month wait. At least they're popular :) Might be better to get your name down against an ex demo car

Not the case they are trying to for fill back orders of the Access model this is what is holding others up.

B*gger, looks like we'd have to order now and then see if the car or our little'un is born first!!! haha

Or just go 4x2?

Will you use the 4x4 i knwo i wont so no point in getting it

Well as much as 4wd may cost more and may have more of a wait, I'd rather have it.

If I'm buying an 'off-roader' then I want it to have the ability to whether I use it or not. Like having a car capable of 0-60 in x amount of time. You don't do it every day but you know it can! Haha

Spoke with the dealers yesterday and they said wait times are about 8-10 weeks for the spec we're after. Not too bad then really. :)

Now who wants a white 133 with 15k on it!!' Haha

Well for me it ticked all the boxes as a family car. Cheap to run, spacious, sturdy and there's no other car that offers that practicality at this price new!

As for why I like it as a car, it's actually great to drive, refined comfortable and has that typical diesel torque mid gear. Admittedly this is compared to a 133 as opposed to a genuine luxury car.

Don't get me wrong, I hate most 'off roader ' mum tanks. Bought because they have a high driving position and look nice on the school run.

The Duster isn't pretty but it gives this impression it could do anything you chuck at it. For us expecting our first child this will make a brilliant car for my Mrs and she loved it more than me! :)

Try driving one, it's a polar opposite to a Twingo 133 which makes it kinda fun in it's own right. Just a totally different kind of fun.

+1 I haven't driven a duster yet but I bet the qashqui +2 we have is similar in terms of size and height

+1 You need to drive it to like it!

By the way Karl, do you know anything about re-maps for the 1.5dci engines? I'm pretty sure more than 110bhp is attainable from one.

Even another 10bhp and 15lbs of torque would make a nice difference, certainly at cruising speeds.

The car is already 107BHP or in 4x4 109BHP. Would be interesting to see what its like mapped.

An extra 30lbs of torque would transform it and to be honest it's not slow with the standard torque. Obviously I'd be interested to know if it would affect reliability, ie the clutch! lol
