Was thinking I've got a few good roads around me for fun driving, but have found many very good ones up and down the country on my various cycle treks. (unfortunately I've often been on bike when finding some of the truly great roads). Was just wondering what peoples favourite routes are?

These are a couple of mine

and if you catch it at the right time (missing tractors etc), some of the roads around here can be great fun.

For an "experience" I would recommend this one gets tried at some point. Apart from a couple of kinks, its just 6 miles of dead flat, dead straight road, where for at least 3 the scenery is identical. Is quite odd both not really being able to see the road when it's straight infront of you, and when you can see the end, how long it seems to take to crop up on you.

So, anyone got some great roads to suggest for some spring/summer fun?

Mr Ben, i think we are lucky to live where we do for great roads, we need to meet up and go for a Thrash / Photo session on some of them,

That sounds like a plan then we can show off to those not as lucky as us!!

Am not too far from you guys. If I'm around I'd like to join in if you've got room for one more on a trip up a good road.

Not realy a single road, but a bit of a short route at 90 miles>>

If your heading up from down south, expecting the A941 to be a two way road, you may be surprised to find it is a wide(ish) single track for most of the way, over the moors between Dufftown and Rhynie.

The road south of Rhynie is quite good, with a series of bends that link nicely together and just beg to turn round for a repeat.
The views and road going upto and down from the Lecht are quite good.

Tea and bacon buttie or cake stops avaliable in a few places too :D

Theres also plenty of other options to make the loop longer on some cracking roads.

looks mint, single speed, bet theres loads of nice scenery around there too

Dr Drew, course, the more the merrier.

Having had a modded MR2, Westfield and modded A3, there was a time when I practicaly knew every manhole cover and pothole round the whole route. 3 times round in one weekend is probably a little excessive :D

The only problems are the patchwork repairs and coarse gravel chippings they resurface with up here. Though that isn't limitted to any particular road. Sticky tires on the Westy mean gravel rashed body work.

Central/northern scotland meeting for a longer daytrip run could be fun, round an extended route

just looking at street view on some of it, looks amazing!!

lots of hills, rivers, villages to look at.

That looks like quite a lot of fun, could well be a little rally stage :)
