I've had an idea for an app... but i have no idea what-so-ever on how to make it happen...

any ideas anyone

(by the way... i have no skills in coding etc...)

I know how to (including all the coding stuffs), but not sure I'd have time to help on a full project. (I can at least get you started though)

What platform(s) you looking at targeting?

iPhone and Blackberry to start with (well iPhone first then leading to Blackberry)

and i did yes..and this has worldwide appeal.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

iPhone is the best to start with ;-) but hey, I'm biased! What's the idea behind it then? (I'm not interested in stealing your idea ;-))

got put up with the idea of iphones, having to need one and a mac and apple license just to do them :(
good luck rob, good money to be had in there :D

genre wise it would fit into travel/leisure

thats all im saying for the time being

there is a large scope for growth and additions to the app

You may find that the app will need to be written more than once, for it to work properly across all platforms. Depending on what it is you're trying to achieve, I know of some tools where you can make an app for iphone and have it automatically portable to android, but am not sure these would be particularly useful for all types of app, or for crossing over to blackberry. Typically as-well there will need to be some tweaking for each platform to make it run well, but it is of course very doable.

Thanks for the input Drew. see the issue i have is...i have the idea...but no way to implement as of yet....no doubt it would need vast amounts of work....fun times, will discuss with my father and see if he reckons its worth going ahead with it (he's usually pretty switched on)

No problem. :)

There are some tools available to use, that you don't really need to know how to code to use at a base level - but depending on what you're wanting to do and it's various technical features, you may need to either learn some code or get a coder involved to do.

A relatively common thing to happen which I've seen in freelance app development is for the person who comes up with the idea to get all coders etc. who get involved to sign a non-disclosure agreement with various constraints saying you can't steal the idea, or divulge it to anyone else etc. That then gives you some nice back-up if you were to find someone you'd trusted to work with copying bits or all of your idea.
