Don't know how many of you on here are aware, but I and Nigel (Madmax) won the Renaultsport competition to attend the Williams F1 partner day at Silverstone. This happened yesterday, so I thought I'd put up a few pics. Apologies for the mighty long post, but there's lots to get through.
It was a really awesome day, and my thanks go again to Ben from RUK for setting it up. Started off arriving at Silverstone and having a buffet breakfast. We also had goodie bags on our seats when we turned up with some awesome stuff in (including an actual F1 gear ratio).
After breakfast there was an introductory talk, and a speech by Sir Frank Williams
After this it was down to the garages where the pit-stop challenge was happening, and I got taken round the track in a 265 trophy by Bruno Senna. That was truly amazing.
After they had done the first set of hot-laps, it was time for the F1 drivers to drive the classic cars. Bruno Senna First had a go in the 1982 FW08 which Keke Rosberg used.
And Pastor Maldonado in Damon Hills Championship winning FW18 from 1996
After that it was time for Susie Wolff to have a go in last years FW33.
After a bit more looking round the classic cars it was time for lunch
which was very tasty.
There was time for some Q&A with the drivers, then a chance to chat & have photos taken
There was a simulator around for F1 hot lap driving (I forgot to take photos of the other F1 game chairs, and scaelextric
Susie Wolff then had her afternoon drive, with a famous engineering face appearing in the garage too
Bruno decided to try out the FW18 for size whilst Susie was driving
Time for some more hot laps. A twingo came out to play again
Next some more of the historic cars, this time with Valtteri Bottas taking the FW08
And Pastor again in the FW18
Time for some group photos
Then after some tea & cake there was a bit of prize-giving
And after a bit more loitering and chatting it was off home.
