hey,

ok question for you all please!!

when i wash the car it looks great.. as soon as i put the windows down and put them back up again i get te watery streaks/smears all over/down them... exactly the same happens when it rains and i put the windows up and down....

any help/advice on how to stop this happening as it is driving me crazy!!!!!!

I've tried everything :'(

I've always had the same annoyance. Whilst rain repellent/glass sealant will help, you'll still get watermarks when the sun is out.

used it for years, damn good stuff, lasts for ages as well

Spray on, wipe off. Make sure you just use a microfiber cloth, it seems to eat spunges

i was hoping you were going to come to my rescue :( haha

You can get Rain-X Glass cleaner which is a spray on, wipe off cleaner much like normal glass cleaner. It just leaves a rain repellent behind.

You can also buy Rain-X in a bottle that you apply more like a liquid polish, apply then buff off. I assume that may well last a bit better, I've got a bottle but not got round to using it yet as their glass cleaner is good. :)

Just don't use Rain X on plastic windows, headlights or visors (theres a plastic safe version for bike visors). Prety good on windows and screen

I often use Red Mist Tropical on glass.

I've used the normal Red Mist on glass and it left a weird sheen on the glass. Not tried the Tropical though.

That said it repels water from paintwork so the same effect on glass was what I hoped from the normal RM.

Just a head up... i took the advice and used my red mist tropical on the glass.. went for a drive with my windows down after it got washed.. got home.. windows up.. smears everywhere still :'( i give up

Have you tried some really basic window cleaner, proper Vinegary stuff? Might cut through some of the grease that's on there. :)

On a BMW, chances are it's Gummifledge. It's used to stop the window rubbers from squeaking when the window runs past. Not a lot you can do about it, unless you want noisy windows.

Alternatively, IPA-based glass cleaner might be a good shout.

When Dodo Juice were making Clearly Menthol, they tested IPA vs Vinegar and IPA was a million times better, apparently.

I used Dodo Juice Clearly Menthol on my windows the other day and I must admit, I was well pleased with the results!
