Are these easy to repair? Is it the same thing that causes them to so it or could it be literally anything?

Been offered a RRoD console cheap as I want it to play one or two games online. As far as I know you can get them fixed for about £30? Or attempt myself?

Matt, depending on how old the x box is, may be done free due to it being a known issue. Ms extended the warranty to either 3 or 5 years but it's not expensive to repair so may be worth a punt

I've had mine repaired twice by Microsoft for free. If you can get the serial number off the xbox, I'm sure you type it in online somewhere and it will tell you if it's eligible for a free repair

I think if its not under warrenty its about an £80 fee, it would be worth probably putting up the extra money to get the new slim 4gb 360 that does not suffer with this problem, it was on the game website for £129 including postage at the beginning of the week, this size hardrive is great for just playing a few games online etc. plus you would not have to fork out another £40 for the wireless adapter as its inbuilt in these :)

They want £20 for it I think and I've seem websites that have guides and kits for about £30?

Wireless isn't a problem as the router is in my room anyway

That's okay then, I know a lot of people on internet guides have managed to fix it themselves easily and cheaply enough, I completely forgot u could use an Ethernet cable aswell as wireless lol
