Auto Express have just done a article on the Next Twingo in 2014, Interesting that they mention it will be rear wheel drive and also be rear engined, Sounds promersing

do you really think after they done a facelift of the twingo they will go back to the non facelift Twingo 2 to make an RWD version makes no sense i call FAKE on the pictures ...

also why does it look so much as a DS3 all FAKE as hell

i do find this last sentence interesting

The new Twingo will be built as part of a tie-up with Daimler, and will share its platform with the next-generation Smart ForFour. Both cars will be rear-engined and rear-wheel drive.

My digging up of that old post was in response to the r5 comments - tbh that r5 story from autoexpress had little merit when it was new.

However it has been known for a while that the new platform is being developed along with Daimler so they can use the platform on the new smarts - so likely RWD. Old news back in Jul '11 https://www.twingo133.net/viewtopic.php?t=3465

Twingo should be a small car though and 5 doors is less rigid and more weight.

A rwd Twingo would be fun and yeah may be more of a handle I drive but you would have to drive it properly unlike throwing them in to corners at the moment

Yes it does but Toyota and Citroen did it to the Aygo/C1 (its the same body, interior except the nose and different logo)

Comes in 5 doors and somehow people prefer 5 door cars but I don't. The more doors, the uglier!

My missus' 106 has 5 doors and is less practical than my 3 door Twingo!

I really hope this RWD is all nonsense. Renault can't ruin the basic dynamics of the Twingo!
