To be fair in the first one it's probably the r5 turbo or the Clio making the best noise but in the last one it still sounds mega

Did you know that the new Twingo will feature two hidden after burners which will give the RS model 1,000bhp and 1 million lbs of torque at the push of a button?

Actually I made that up which incidentally is what Autoexpress usually do.

I think I'll wait and see what comes of the next generation Twingo when it happens. :)

well the video's dont lie and also they spy foto's dont lie that there is a rear wheel powered car called TwinFun not Twingo in prototype only the figures of power are not available yet (daimler engine for the new smart roadster will be used in this) ...

let us hope they make a somewhat buy able version of that :p

Renault also built an F1 powered Espace but that's all it ever was, a one off prototype.

Personally I can't see the logic behind Renault suddenly releasing a RWD hatch to replace the current Twingo when they have so much experience and history of good FWD cars. I mean part the reason why the Smart car was RWD was due to its minute dimensions coz it certainly didn't handle. There's very little logic in taking a Twingo sized car and putting all that effort into fitting an engine in the boot leaving a perfectly suitable space under the bonnet. And before you say it the Clio V6 has no logic lol

I'm remaining skeptical until we find out if the next gen Twingo is another normal hatch or completely revised into something else like an Eco car of some kind.

its called the TwinFun and never will replace the twingo its like the alpine prototype ( it even has the same colors as the alpine) and hopefully it will become something more sensible even if they make a bonkers car like the clio V6 wich makes no sense at all will still be cool :D

This is Renault Alpine's doing

Could it be the new 1.6 turbo f1 engine?

Idea stolen from someone else on here ;)

Maybe that's because Renault (Sport) knows that they're one of the best out there when it comes down to FWD and it's possible they want to show the world that they can go back to their roots and build awesome RWD cars as well.

I'm still very skeptical that it will ever find the daylight but I noticed on websites like Pistonheads that people were very enthousiastic about it and that they would definatly buy one.

So who knows that Renault will listen to their prayers :)

As its likely to be around 1000Kg, I doubt if a production version would have more than 150Hp as that would start to make the Clio200 look far less appealing. Especially as its unlikely to be N/A, ~150hp coupled with the extra mid range torque from forced induction would see it having a significant upgrade from the current RS133 and that would almost be a match for 197s

1.4Tce 130 maybe brought up to 140 at best would be my guess... But, if someone has swallowed the loony pills, who knows

Looks to be space framed with fibreglass body so a production road legal version would be a lot heavier...

Look to the basic shape. Not the tech that was in that car.
It will give you an idea as to the looks. That's the purpose of the concept is to get people interested, and to hint as to what it will look like, surely.

As for the tech though, we can all make reasonable assumptions based on the engines currently available to Renault, and the direction they're moving. I wouldn't imagine Neil's far off

It's been mentioned over on the RS forums (and by someone quite senior in Renault) that the new Twingo is likely to follow the Clio and be a 5dr model. They seem to think that having 5 doors makes it more appealing to men?!
