So the Clio and Megane warn you before the rev limit.

Now we have a shift up light that does the same but it is very much not as cool as our bigger brothers'

So how hard can it be to 'make' our own i mean im not an electrical expert but i assume something can get wired up to the light so when that flashes the 'beep' kicks in.

Or am i just mad and wanting a bit too much?

Hmmm I want one. I'm guessing just wire some sort of buzzer into the light like you've said but I'm betting it would be harder than that as nothing is simple.

I've never found the 'optimum gear change light' aka 'You're 100rpm from the limiter' light particularly helpful.

Well certainly not on the 172/182 anyway and in the 225 Megane taking the car near the limiter is a waste as the power tails off. I usually find I have the chance to glance at the rev counter without going near the limiter.

I've never seen the light even come on in either of our 133s! lol

Shouldnt be too hard to wire a cheapo buzzer from maplins up to the change up light, unless you encounter the "canbus" annoyance (or however its spelt)

Although to be honest, I have driven two rental clios and a ka with the annoying change up light - It is the most annoying option I have come across for normal road driving.

A track however, This might be a useful mod :)

lol!

Unless theres traffic on the road or people about im always on the boil and that shift light helps a lot especially at night time!
If i had an audible beep i wouldn't even need to watch out for the green light so even more time concentrating on the 3000 GTO's behind me lol

The superior Wind 'beeps' ;)
You sure it doesn't fart at you?

 You could be right.
Fancy going on a wire hunt and helping us twingo owners out?

I was quite busy on a local circuit, when it happened. I think that the first thing I need to do, is to go for a little drive, and pinpoint where the noise comes from. I'll try and remember to do something this weekend, but it's bike weather this weekend.

It seems I lied. I was sure that it did, when I was at Lydden Hill, but I've just tried, and nothing. :? I'll have another go without the music on, just in case - but it seems that it wasn't a 'beep' that alerted me to the fact that I was getting mear the top of the rev range. Sorry.

I've never taken my r26 to the beep

It's nice to have a warning before you get to the red line - and before the limiter, if you're pre-occupied with a mate in front of you on track.

I've always cringed at those who use the ignition cut of the rev-limiter to change gear on bikes, and so can understand your view.

Probably because you don't really need to.

After 6k those turbo engines tail off so you're optimum is about 6-6,100rpm and change.

Only time I've hit the rev limiter in a car was my ex's Clio 182 and was trying to demonstrate the gear change light. Put my foot down, light flashed literally as it hit the limiter. :?

Keeping a car on the boil is as much a case of feeling the power and listening to the engine not just waiting for it to tell you when to change. At least driving on the road it is anyway. ;)

Someone I went college with had a train horn in his 4x4. Someone he lived near saw him fit it and told the police who decided he had to remove it. So a tug boat horn would be a no go lol
