The day you don't know, or need something, to turn your lights and wipers on/off is the day you shouldn't be driving

Have tried turning my auto lights on, and it won't work :(. I have had the engine running, then tried just with the ignition on. Boo. :(

I have to flick it between the settings quickly or it doesn't work.

Try doing it quicker :p

Yeah I will try, I have drove for 8 years without automatic lights, so its no worries if it doesn't work!

I turned miine off by accident too, its much easier to turn off than on in my opinion! Anyone got any idea why my automatic wipers come on ... even when its bright sunshine and I have the roof off (also happens in bright sunshine with the roof on haha!)
My clio's auto wipers have a mine of their own sometimes too. I found the only way to reset them to make the auto function work properly again is to switch the engine off (to position 0 or key out) then restart the car. Don't know if this is the same issue or if it helps at all?

Thanks, I'll try that :)

And to Maggi, if I've got it, why shouldn't I flaunt it! ;)
I obviously know when & how to turn on my lights and wipers but if the car has the function why wouldn't I use it!!

Because, when it confuses a bug for rain it turns a few small bug splats which you could quite happily see past and drive with into a streaky film of goo across the screen.
I think its a good idea, but flawed in practice.

Likewise the lights where sometimes at dusk/dawn they can't decide wether to be on or off through patches of shadow. And, how many people would still be driving about towns which have road side lighting, assuming the lights were on but they had inadvertently switched auto off

Lights go on all the time (and its incredible how many idiots think twice about pulling out as a result) and wipers barely ever go on, unless its coming down really heavy.
In a Renault, it's only a matter of time till something like that stops working :p

Nice full thread from what i thought was a small question.
I'll try the "turning them back on" method this evening and let all know if that worked.
It's not that i cant drive without them, by why have a car that has the feature and then not have it working?
Ahh well thanks all for the responses :)

Exactly! Good luck :)

I'm pleased to say i tried this on my lunch break today...and it worked.
I have no idea how i turned them off but just glad they are working again. So thanks all :)

Did you just keep flicking the side lights on and off to get them back on again?

It's such a Renault thing to do. Other manufacturers might include a switch or a stalk setting to turn this on/off. Not Renault! Oh no...

You must jump through hoops and navigate a maze of random sequences in order to enable/disable a simple setting

Yeah i had the engine started whilst in a car park and just flipped the side lights stalk on and off maybe 5 or 6 times and hey presto! the auto lights started working again... :)

I will keep trying!
Is your rear view mirror stuck straight onto the windscreen, or is there a large surround covering the mounting, which contains the sensors (the sensors can be seen from the outside of the screen)

If you don't have them, you won't have auto***

Ooh, I will take a look tomorrow before I leave for work, because I can't think if it has or not. I just thought it being a FF with cup it would have them aswell. :)
