I think sometimes detailing can get a bit misunderstood. Whilst washing/cleaning does play a large part in the process of detailing, the claying, decontaminating, machine polishing and waxing etc isn't really about getting the car clean, it is about enhancing and refining the finish by removing contamination and defects in the paintwork. All being well, the end result is a car that not only looks fantastic (and thoroughly, thoroughly clean) but it would also have real depth of shine, as well as protection from future contamination (which also makes the lovely finish much easier to maintain and keep clean in future).
And Karl, the 182 looks really great, a nice turnaround. Looking at that clay bar and knowing what you're like, I'm slightly worried that you clayed before washing haha
