hi guys i want to start getting cleaning my car properly and was just wondering what is the best stuff i can buy at my local halfords store and do i bother with certain polish applicators or just use micro fibres. also is snow foam really worth getting ???

I use Auto Glym shampoo, Auto glym wheel cleaner and Auto Glym polish on mine. Results are fantastic. I do need to wax mine though, and I know Dodo juice is held in high regard here. Hopefully I am going to purchase some stuff from there when I am payed. Monsterdetail is the place to go for Dodo juice. :)

wow ok didnt know there would be a website dedicated to cleaning your car lol thanks mike. nic am i right that you can buy auto glym packs that have everything in thats a major plus !!!

Im unsure to be honest. I am sure Halfords would sell it though if they did. I have always bought mine separately, just because the shampoo, always runs out before the polish!

I used a mix of products from clb car care and dodo which can be bought from traders on here along with various autoglym products.
A friend just brought me and my gf a autoglym pro kit for our birthdays and hoping too use it this weekend as it has a decent amount of products in for a good clean.
P.s yes halfords stocks sets like the pro kit if that's the correct name for it

looks like auto glym it is then i'll call in to halfords today and have a look hopefully want to get some pictures up this weekend

My local store has 3 for 2 offer on all cleaning products so if its the same elsewhere how's the time too buy it

You can get a perfectly good selection of products you can pick up from Halfords mate, don't be fooled by a lot of fancy packaging and pricing as your only option to make your car shine. :)

Personally, if I was shopping for stuff only in Halfords, this would be my choice :

Clay : Meguiars Smooth Surface Clay Kit
Shampoo : Meguiars Gold Class
Mitt : Meguiars Microfibre
Polish : Autoglym Super Resin
Wax/Sealant : Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection
Tyre Shine : Meguiars Endurance High Gloss Tyre Protection

Then get yourself a selection of microfibre cloths, drying towels and applicators. It's all about the pre work not how much you spend so something to remember.

If you do want to order online, I'm quite a fan of www.shinearama.co.uk as their customer service is superb and their prices are good. Personally I lost faith in CleanYourCar.co.uk, ordered bits from them before and they missed out the odd small item, then when contacted just received no response at all. :(

Alex. You missed a second bucket (and maybe grit guard if they stock them) from the list :(

Oh yeah good point. even a second bucket without a grit guard would be good.

If not get a grit guiard off eBay for under a tenner :D

Also I recommend one of these kinds of buckets for your clean water. Hold about double that of a normal bucket but means even using the two bucket method, you're mainly using water from the top half of the bucket.

Less likely to drag gritty nastiness over your car. :)

And it smells lovely!

I've never put my finger on quite what, but like minty coconut woodchips in my head. It is brilliant, and a bargain. The story is it is continued to be made under licence by turtle wax (I think) since ~2002 after zymol updated the formula.

Before then, the same formula was quite expensive I believe. I didn't drive back then, so didnt buy expensive car shampoos though
