BOTTOM ARM/BALL JOINTS

Evening all, after a bit of help/info....

Ball joint has just gone, split rubber and slight bit of play.

does anyone know if you can replace just the ball joint (do they pop out and can you pop a new one in) or do you have to replace the whole bottom arm assembly?

If so does any one if there are any pattern bottom arms out there, rather than going to Renault. or were I can find a replacement ball joint

Common issue. Whole lower arm, unless you want to try the possible replacements linked towards the end.

Take it to your Renault dealer, tell them it's a known fault and you expect them to do it at no charge. If they give you any cr*p, point them to the thread in the previous post - there are 10 pages of us had the same problem, including some who've had it twice.

Some have had RUK contributions towards the repair, covering most of the cost.

^^ in most cases you will need to call RUK yourself to get this kind of outcome.

I have emailed RUK, lets see what they say,

I take it no one has found any patterned bottom arms or a ball joint.

Don't think anyone has really looked into it yet as most have had them done under warranty or had help from RUK with the costs of replacement arms

Arms - No. Although I've wondered about the Clio182 Cup arms which are pressed steel with a bolt on ball joint. The 182 Cup has the same 3degrees caster angle as the 133 but it depends on the overall length and inner bush positions :?

Ball joint - a couple of possibilities (screw in body with a tapered pin) but not measured or checked for fittment

.........having mine done outside warranty by RUK and they have paid for most of it!

if you change the rubber on time only cost you 10£

but you have to change it before the ball is damaged
if it's the case ask renault they pay 80% of the cost normaly

each arm cost around 150£ (don't nuy aftermarket one)

Spoke to RUK today, out come is I have to take it to my local Renault dealer and pay £65 + VAT for a diagnostic of the problem then RUK will go from there if they agree the bottom arm has failed and RUK will contribute towards the cost of the repair and refund the diagnostic cost.

not a problem, RUK are ringing me tomorrow to for me to book my car in the garage then they are going to go from there in how much of a contribution they are going to make.
