that is what mine looked like before i shot blasted and painted it, dont know about not being able to screw it in securely?? i welded a piece of bar to the end of mine then put it in a lathe and turned it down before adding a thread so it can be properly fitted.

they are a pain in the ass to paint as the ring scrapes against the middle section, i ended up tig welding my underneath so it is fixed in one place then painted it, far easier
