Basically I have been looking at buying a twingo for quite a while and have saved enough money to get one, I will be getting a 1.2 gt as im young and insurance is expensive for the 133. I am going to look at one this weekend and was wondering is there any details that I should look at specifically i.e common problems or expensive fixes. Thank you
 
You want to be watching out for the leaky scuttle panel issue - water can get into the engine bay through the scuttle and blow up the coil pack.

Passenger side electric window can be a bit iffy sometimes too - make sure that and the drivers' side one go up and down at the same pace (my n/s one is a bit slow in comparison)

Just make sure everything works, press all the buttons, make sure they do everything they're supposed to. I'm not sure if the GT comes with a switch to deactivate the TCS but my button doesn't sit in the holder properly and disappears into the dash when you press it.

I'm sure there's more but I can't think of anything else right now...
 
Depends on the mileage, anything under 40k shouldnt have too many major problems all the common faults are listed above

Over 60k look out for exhaust blowing, any knocking from exhaust or steering and cambelt change.

I don't agree with this, I've seen some cars with 20k miles and were ****** as the owner obviously drove it like he stole it and didn't give 2 ***** about maintenance.

Check all around mentioned above leaky scuttlepanel, ball joints and the usual things, full service history and if its 5 years old have the belts been replaced?

if you have any relatives who are in the auto industry, ask them to come to view with you to give you some help unless you're good with your eyes and know your way around a car so you can pick up on collision impact evidence like missaligned axles to the chassis basically make sure it looks straight, use a magnet to go over the metal bodywork. any parts that don't stick have been repaired using body filler which points to it being in a hit of some sort, make sure the brakes feel fine. you also want to check the sills at the jacking points, as some can be damaged and bent inwards due to some people using the incorrect jacking points. look for evidence of oil leaks around the coils pencils on the cylinder head and dry water residue which is the result of coolant leaking around the hoses dripping onto the block and drying out leaving a beautifuly coloured stain :)
