Hi All,

I have a Clio 128 GT, which I am lead to believe is the same engine in the Twingo rs.

If it is great, i am wondering what people have done to increase the power output. I have seen a Ktec kit which can make it over 200 BHP but costs around £5k

any advice would be great cheers :)

Rory

Car below :)

Welcome along, my other have had a clio same as this. What extras do you have?
The clio engine is the k4m which is the same as the twingo but I think something to do with internals is slightly different hence the lower bhp.
What does the ktec kit include to get it to 200 bhp?

Some pics of the other halfs clio

Welcome to the club!

I think you're thinking of the 182 ITB conversation that KTEC do. They do offer a 162bhp (or something similar) package which costs a fair chunk. The best place to find information about getting more power look for Yotah's thread and Neils (Singlespeed)'s thread.

Yotah is just about to be running a clio 197 engine and neil is running a ITB'd, cammed, twingo 133 engine.

Cheers Dubz, im sure it was a twingo upgrade think it was a supercharger kit? I would like to keep the engine the same, wouldnt mind doing a few things to it to increase power. maybe charging it?

Nice and clean that Chicken!

Haven't heard of a supercharger kit from ktec for twingos. Most they do for twingos is stage 1 package which makes it 163 bhp. You would have to check about this pack fitting the clio though.

Cheers guy's :) is there a lot of work to supercharge/Turbo the 133 engine?

Yes. Ktec started to turbo a twingo and gave up. Callum on here bought it from them and recently gave up to. The new owner has now said the engine was knackered so is looking into new options (different engine or turbo a twingo engine)

Cheers Chicken, bit of a novice question. If i was to ITB my GT what would need to be done, what would a rough price be for it, and what would the power gains be?

Alot of money.
Neil didn't say exactly how much he spend on his but you can expect around 5000£ (give or take, depending if you do some of the work yourself).

Callum tried by buying the one from Ktec Racing who started the 133 turbo project but even he didn't got around to finishing it.
Cheapest way to do it would be an engine swap from a Clio 172/182 and if you want to take it further. Buy the DIY turbo kit for the 172 engine from Ktec Racing.

Well the ITB's are £1,182.00 from KamRacing
You'll most likely need bigger injectors from a 182 around £35 new for 1 (not sure about second hand)
It makes sense to do cams and exhaust at this point.
Stage 1 cams are £718.80, Stage 2 aren't on sale but do exist
Engine back exhaust is £898.80 from K-tec
You'll need a standalone ECU for the ITB's which is £1,000.00 from TwinKam.co.uk
And then you'll need tuning. No idea about this price. My guess is £600+

That's all can think of so far. This set up will give you around 160-175 bhp (depending on the rolling road)

That's a minimum cost of £4,500 with my guess on how much tuning will cost.

ITBs and cams on a turbocharged engine? No need, forged internals and a bigger turbocharger would push close to 200HP

If you want a little extra power a good exhaust, r26 injectors, better air flow and a front mount would get 136-140 out of a GT - safe map is usually 126bhp

It's a clio GT with the same engine as the 133. It's not a Clio TCE :p

Didn't see that, haha, just went into the red zone !!!

In all honesty if you want more power in your clio your best options are going to be engine swap for either a clio 200 engine or a megane 225 engine but this could still cost a fair bit so probably just worth saving up for a clio 197/200
