My wife just took her pre-facelift Twingo RS in for its first service. All went smoothly but I was surprised to hear that they want it in again to do some more work under warranty. The story I got second hand through my wife is that there is a "known problem" with the bushes which they want to replace under warranty. On the worksheet there is a comment that both front lower arm ball joint boots are split, which I'm taking to be what they're referring to. Is this really a common problem, or could it be the dealer wanting to pad out a quiet spell with a bit of extra warranty work?
Second question is tyres. It needs new tyres on the front soon. The car has the cup chassis and wheels so despite best efforts my wife has managed to kerb the wheels and is going to get them refurbed shortly. I understand that the new cars come with 205/40 rubber. Has the wheel size changed at all and would it be sensible to put 205/40s on to try and give the rims a bit of protection? Any problems to watch out for when doing this, and any problem leaving the 195/40s at the rear in place for a few months? If that's a goer, what's the best 205/40 (premium) tyre to go for?
Sorry for all the questions. I've only been allowed to drive the car a few times (I have my own toy), but it's put a smile on my face every time. If you see a white and black Twingo RS being driven "enthusiastically" around Teesside it may well be the missus. Feel free to wave
