Sorry to bother people but just got a 133 with CUP chassis. MOT issued but with advisory on lower balljoint with slight play and perished rubber. Looking at the lower arm it appears to be a solid pressing but googling for spares shows arms with lower ball joint detachable and held with two bolts to the arm. Does the CUP have a different lower arm? and where can I get replacements please?
No spares supplier eems to recognise 'CUP'
Many thanks indeed.

it comes as part of the wishbone, there is no replacement for the ball joint. well there is, but it's aftermarket and strictly untested. a few folk have tried to remove the ball joint, but it's really true when they say it's non removable. you'd do more damage than good attempting to remove it, and that's coming from attempts by highly experience engineers and what have you.

renault is the only place you can get the new wishbone :)

Thank you. I sort of suspected that as it looks quite different from the pix of 'normal' Twingo wishbones. Would they have used an arm from another model in their range? And have you had to get one yourself please?
Many thanks.

only specfic to twingo RS

you can have better price buying the R1 one

The wishbone assembly is a one off, only found on the RS133 and Wind. I spent ages tryig to find a replacement balljoint but its only for one application so theres no other alternatives.

A classic car parts dealer from Germany has got hold of 100 joints direct from the original manufacturer.
You would need to make a four pegged socket to unscrew the joint and probably use a bit of heat to help removing it. Details are in the last few pages of the "lower balljoint rubbers" thread.

The alternative is a new arm direct from Renault which is expensive. However, depending on the age and milage, renault have been quite good with replacing them as waranty parts or at least contributing some cost

What happened to the balljoint being sold on there own on here?

it's going to be a huge pain in the arse to fit, and you're more than likely to damage the wishbone as much as you are winging it and getting away with it. that's basically my viewpoint from what neil told me at jim clark rally, when neil attempt to remove it ... pauses, and a little bit of poooh comes out and then stops to say nah sack that!

.... you kind of know that'll be that out the window

I had a go at removing one of mine but gave up. It was perfectly servicable and there was no replacement so I didnt resort to using any heat which would probably have damaged the rubber.

If it was already shot and a replacement was avaliable, I bet I could have removed it

Hello All,
Thanks for all this. I'm up to speed now. I've just bought a couple of Renault suspension arms for £150 each = not too bad, I suppose and they're pretty handsome chunks of metal for the money. Quiet weekend job beckons. Thanks again to one and all.
