Gloss black may look good, but it has the drawback of giving a strong reflection in the windscreen. So, I'm thinking of getting it covered with black flocking. Also, getting the bottom of the drivers side storage well flocked in black as well.

I even considered having the speedo cover cover done in a blue flock (as close to the Dini blue as possible) and the central surround in black. However, I think this would be a fail.

Thoughts?

Yes! I love the look of flocked dashboards. My only worry would be that the gloss black part is rather small in comparison to the dashboard in whole so although it's practical, it may look quite odd? Function over form though I guess...

Would be cool if you could have the tacho covered in blue with white stripes but I guess that's a bit tricky.

Thinking of sending it off or doing it yourself?

I had considered white stripes but It may be too tricky and being light coloured, there may be reflections from it... Self defeating :(

Airbag cover and all the drivers tray in black?

Diy with a puffer sprayer could work, or be a disaster. Sending away for electrostatic coating would give a better coating and even result

Yes yes an yes!!

This would be impressive. An the blue a definite improvement over the black gloss, personally I'd steer clear of the white stripes an keep flat colur

I had mine vinyl wrapped in blue but lad did the wrong colour, looked good too.
See paint shop this week about having speedo surround and cover painted malta blue.
Already painted stereo white and air con surround.
Just need to get rid of silver gear stick surround and silver handles, oh and silver gear knob.

I think I'm decided on getting the passenger side airbag cover, center surround and drivers tray flocked in black, with the speedo cover done in blue.

One company didn't reply, but another did and they say they could get a close match to the Malta blue of the revcounter. Alternatively, they would also do the rev counter, foc which i'm tempted by :) I'm home next Monday and should get them posted prety quick. Expected to be a 5 day turnround.

Excited :)

They think a reasonably close match to the blue rev counter should be possible. However, I've decided to get the revcounter and speedo cover both flocked blue which will save any mismatch between the two.

I managed to get everything unclipped without breaking any clips, so my dashboard is going to be looking a bit naked for the next week. The only destructive part was pulling the plastic welds away which held the air vents onto the bottom of the center surround.

The price for flocking your panels in your chosen colours are as follows:

Centre console - £20.00
Speedo cover - £20.00
RH panel - £20.00
LH panel - £14.00

These prices are exclusive of vat and a £13.00 + vat overnight courier
delivery.

We would need your pieces for approximately 5 working days to complete the
work.

Cheaper for black by any chance?
I wouldn't know. It may be slightly cheaper if you were getting just one colour as I'll possibly be needing two colours of base adhesive Black and Blue as well as the two different colours of flock.

You can get flock, adhesive and a puffer bottle from ebay for about the same price as one panel. However, bear in mind that the airbag cover is only avaliable complete with the airbag and the center console surround comes complete with the vents... The prices are quite scary and the results will be on show so bodging it up would be either very costly or a huge hastle trying to rectify it. Getting them done profesionaly with a proper conductive adhesive and an industrial electrostatic applicator may not be the cheapest but is could be cost effective.

Well, it took much longer than the 5 days that Simon mentioned. The bits were different plactics which required priming diffently and they were also busy. However, I got the bits back on Thursday and the results are rather good, with even coverage :) Maybe I should have specified a darker blue as this one is a bit bright, but the contrast between the black and blue looks ace :?

After a weekend living with it all fitted, the adhesive smell has faded to nothing and he best bit is the windscreen glare from the sun reflecting off the gloss black is gone.

In fairly tempted to do mine after fcs as they would be back in time if I sent them before
