In fairly tempted to do mine after fcs as they would be back in time if I sent them before
you may be lucky and get them done, but I think it would be pushing it... I wasn't in a rush . You could cut out the postage time, as they are in Watford, so not too far for yourself.

You will see mine at FCS :)

Hehe I'm down there tomorrow for work! Doing an audit what must be only a few units away. Interesting...

So I'm looking at ~£40 for the speedo surround and cover if I take it down myself. I quite like the look but I'm worried I'll always want a proper retrim

not trying to be picky or anything like that, but could it have some impact on the way the passenger airbag goes off?
It's a thin film of adhesive, over a relatively thick plastic panel. Airbags generaly don't erupt through the cover panel, instead breaking one edge of the cover panel clips and pushing the panel out of the way. On the Twingo, the clips that hold the cover onto the airbag are a slightly different profile front and rear, meaning the rear clips had to be freed before the panel could be removed from the front ones...

fair enough, cheers

Hmm thats not a bad price considering what has been done, maybe when she's fully mine, i could redo the roof in black and get the a - pillars and dash flocked ;)

Compared to the price of spraying parts, it's a bit of a bargain and has certainly changed the interior.

Last night, Karen mentioned black and anthrasite gray which could be a good combination is someone is brave

Hmmmm can't wait to see this in the flesh as it looks nice. How easy we're the parts to remove?

Speedo cover - dead easy, just lift it up and it comes free.

Drivers side storage tray - Dead easy. Get something plastic like a credit card under the edge nearest the screen and lift it up. Work around untill its all free

Passenger airbag cover - Fidly. Switch off airbag switch and don't start engine. Remove two 13mm nuts from inside the glove box roof. Unclip the cover panel as per drivers side, complete with airbag unit. I didn't attempt to remove the cable connector but did unclip the tywrap to get more cable to play with.

Tease all 4 of the cover panel rear edge securing points (could have been 5) from the hooks on the airbag. Then, tip the cover forwards and it comes free from the forward hooks. The panel could probably be cut free but theres a risk of being smacked in the face if the airbag is deployed in anger. Refit the naked airbag unit and secure it with the nuts.

Center suround - fairly easy to remove but firstly needs the speedo cover and drivers storage tray removing and the pasenger airbag cover lifting slightly. Would need a bit of dismantling or lots of tricky masking up. Undo two torx screws which secure the speedo unit, which then comes free and moves slightly towards the windscreen. Lift the surround panel near the screen and unclip all around, working towards the airvents.

Unclip the hazard/door switch from the panel. Pull the airvent assembly from the plastic welds on the underside of the center suround> I left as much of the weld intact for resecurring afterwards, which allowed me to ease the welds back through the slots and add a drop of 5 minute epoxy.

Rev counter - Fidly, risk of breaking clips. Remove the small angled cover behind the rev counter. Undo the 10mm nut and lift the revcounter free, disconnect the cable.

Unclip the bottom corners (previously hidden) of the revcounter rear panel, then lift it upwards to free the single clip at the top.

Front panel and glass surround has 4 clips each, at 10, 2, 4 and 8 oclock positions.

Does it have to be taken off the car?

I reckon the inside of the Wind roof could do with flocking. :)

Looking on Youtube etc, it can be done as a DIY job with epoxy adhesice and a puffer bottle. However, thats probably not a good idea for large areas which could end up with uneven coverage or the flock fibres falling over instead of standing up in the glue.

Properly applied, they use a conductive adhesive and create a static charge on the glue and fibers in the gun, which gives an even finish, with the fibres standing up. You could give it a try and it may be great... But it could be a pain to remove if it goes wrong and looks rubbish.

It's undoubtebly going to be messy, spraying a mist of chopped fibers about, so removing the parts would save a lot of masking off, or cleaning up ;)
