Hello all i Recently bought a twingo 133 after having some pretty quick cars, the last being a lightley modified mazda 6 mps. Thought to myself this would be a nice wee stop gap till i got something quicker.

But as soon as i had given the little twingo a spirited test drive i was hooked. Reminded me of my little citreon ax gt i had when i was younger, which was probably the most fun i ever had in a car.

Its a standard red 133 and only has the 16" wheels, tinted rear windows and aircon not sure whats standard or not yet as i had never really looked at them before.

I have just ordered parts for doing the timing belt, dephaser, pulleys, aux belt, coils and plugs as its had the scuttle panel leak Ive read so much about. I put new speakers in as the originals were terrible and im just blasting about everywhere like im a kid again, hence why im changing the timing belt.

An absolute blast of a car to drive

Glad to hear your enjoying it that's high praise considering the more powerfull machinery you've driven. Just shows you don't need tons of power to have fun where as the twingo can handle and make use of every horsepower it has plus the lower costs that come with it win win

I suppose with more powerful cars you half to find the right roads to put your foot down where as the twingo you can get the same engagement on nearly any road

Cheers for the welcome, your right it really is win win. I only have a short commute to work mainly through some twisty roads and the main roads are always busy so it really is the perfect weapon of choice, I just didnt expect to like it so much. I think maybe im not a good enough driver to fully exploit some of the other cars ive had but you can put the twingo right on its limit without trying to hard and feel like your an f1 driver.

I have changed the timing belt, pulleys, dephaser, aux belt, water pump, coils and sparks and to my amazement i gained 9bhp as a friend of mine let me use his rolling road. He wanted me to do it so he could show people how much timing effects these engines even only being a tiny bit out. There was enough stretch on the belt to stop the timing tools from getting in properly but only just. its a 59 plate with 65000 miles so was a perfect candidate for the test. Came out with 117bhp at the wheels which he said was pretty good. when i stripped it down it all seemed very clean so looks like i got a good one that someone has looked after.

I also took out the rubber bung from the airbox which gives it a lovely induction note although it does make me want to blast around everywhere. This little car is turning me back into a boy racer!
