Philips blue vision were recommended to me. I went for the 'Philips extreme vision' as i didn't want any blue tint to be visible.

Reminds me I ordered bulbs like before Xmas online and still haven't seen them. Good job I haven't needed them really.

Thing with the twingo is the bulbs are so under powered whatever you Put in there that you still can't see  worst headlamps I've ever used!

Same with my car.. HID kit was a huge (illegal) upgrade.

Edit: one thing though, in my car manual it said "no bulbs with more than 50w or your headlights capps will start to melt"

Not sure but I think its the same for the Twingo so be carefull you don't put bulbs that get too hot.

Hardly a grey area. Just people interpret it to suit their own needs. And others ignore it

I went for the same Phillips Extreme Vision as recommended on here. Yes they are considerably brighter than standard but still not excellent.

It is most definitely a grey area. The law surrounding aftermarket HIDs, which are the brightest, is extremely unclear. Some people will speak to police and be told they're fine, while others are fined and told to remove them.

Mine are 8000k and I haven't had any people flashing their lights at me.

I think its very clear, since the MOT tests have been brought inline with the construction and use laws, due to european regulations.

Hids that don't have working washers, working self leveling and a defined beam pattern are illegal, wether factory fitment or aftermarket.

Which backs up what I said. There is no grey areas, just some people either I interpret them differently to suit their needs or ignore them. Depending on application I'm far from anti hid (my previous car had them). I realised the legal implication and I interpreted that to be a risk I was going to take.

yep, me too :)

My argument for was they were projector lamps. So socially slightly more acceptable. But still illegal however you cut it

I found some on eBay (H7 55W Super Bright Extreme White 6000K Xenon Gas Filled
Halogen Headlight Bulbs) and was going to buy them... Until I saw how difficult it is to change the 'fog light' bulbs.

Also, judging by what Im reading on here, a good thing I didn't buy them too as it appears they may be illegal, even though the ad states they're 'road legal'! Nothing worse at night than having a driver with headlights too bright coming towards you.

Not discounting the fact that you need H11 bulbs for the foglight.

Xenon gas filled filament bulbs are legal, just like other halogen fillament bulbs.

Discharge bulbs which produce an arc across electrodes would be iillegal. Often called xenons, these need a balast pack to allow the arc to strike and then establish a controled burn... Which is why they take a couple of seconds to reach full brightness but produce lots more light than any similar wattage fillament

I meant I was looking at those bulbs for the headlights, but would also want to change the fog lights aswell, to avoid 2 different coloured beams. But I'll stick with the originals!! I mainly drive in London anyway
