Mine is now making a rather high pitched whine, like its spinning freely, with no air being blown at all.

Is it possible something has simply disconnected, or is something likely broken?

What should I be checking?

It's raining and it's a long drive back home, and if I can avoid Renault, I like to.... I have had a search but fan and heater are quite broad terms that haven't brought up what I want

No fan at any speed. Like its spinning freely, and fast!

Sounds like its the blower it's self has gone to dead short it's very Rare for a resister to go wrong on all speeds tbh

You can test the blower by putting 2 wires to it and powering it straight off the battery if the blower then turns its either the resistor or broken wire some where

Just gone back outside to check.

It's not whining like it was, and it does blow. A little bit. But it makes a sound like something's stuck maybe. Gonna see what I can strip down between showers and see if its clogged with a leaf or more. It's certainly doing more than it was before

Strange. It blows hot fine. Makes loud noises when 'blowing' cold.

Nothing obvious so far. Do I really need to remove the lower dash to get to anything?!

Well the heater blower is up behind the glove box i thinks ,so I start in that area take the glove box out the way and you should be able to see it hopefully then you should be able to take of the bottom part of the heater fan and look inside it to see if anything stuck in there

How is that removed?

I've noticed this purple wire

Doesn't move with anything. Assume it's meant to, to move something with the yellow part. No idea what or why though?

Should it? Only thing hve noticed so far

There should be 2 cables there one moves when yours changing where you want to air to blow to and the other one moves when going from hot to cold I can't remember for defo off the top of me head witch one is witch I would go and look at mine but I am out in the missis Clio at the moment

Sod it. The bits are being removed for flocking to cheer me up  then she's going to Renault for the heater to be fixed.

I can cut the postage out as the company Neil used Is down the road from me. Justification indeed...

Just going all black. Should be £88.80 if the prices quoted to Neil still stand. I'm gonna contact them this week. Then when they're off gonna look at re-wiring the tweeters as I wasn't brave enough to take the top dash out a week after buying her to wire them across the top... And I'm feeling braver these days

I did that too. Pioneer coaxials in the rear and pioneer components in the front.

Tbh when I did it, id never wired speakers before. Learnt lots. Time to replace a couple of the wires (the first in) and reroute them. As I now know the best place for the wires!

I just brought a standard pair as wiring is already there saves me playing bout lol plug them straight in job done ha ha and it beats having none at all :)
