Hello everyone,

I'm looking at getting a twingo RS. I've currently got a 1.2 clio, but looking for something a bit more fun.

Just wondered if some of you could help me with a couple of things before I do get one?

I do alot of motorway driving, what are they like at 70? How many RPMs?

Also, are there any common replacements for the steering wheel, as it really puts me off...

Cheers :)

Welcome!

I do a lot of motorway driving myself so i'm always sitting at around 70-80mph you're looking at around 3.5-4k (rpm)

Regarding the change of steering wheel, take a look in the traders section as Kam Racing offer different steering wheels and boss'

If boat like steering wheels and revving the nuts off at 70 cruising isn't your thing, you might need to look elsewhere :(

They're not great for cruising but if you get one with cruise control it is a lot more bearable (I personally own a cup without cruise or air con so long journeys can be tedious).

As for the steering wheel, there's hundreds of possibilities. A few have swapped with aftermarket wheels. Get the right one trimmed nicely and it's not as fast and furious.

Not sure anyone's swapped for another models wheel yet, but anything is possible. With time, money and effort.

You can get quite a bit of road noise, but nothing turning the radio up won't cover! haha

I moved from a Corsa B completely stripped out so the noise in that was ridiculous, so in my eyes the Twingo is no where near as bad.

Where are you from?

I'm from Birmingham area and commute to Worcester

Admittedly my Clio is doing 3.5k revs at 70 anyway

Best bet is to take a test drive. If you can, take it out in the dry and wet. You'll soon hear the lack of sound deadening over the rear arches. You could obviously change that, but tbh I don't even think about it anymore

I've given one a quick test drive and tbh, I was having too much fun to notice anything lol...

I really think I need to go for a second test drive and pay more attention

Welcome too the madhouse. It may take a while too read through but check yotah's progress thread as I think he said one of the megane steering wheels will fit on a twingo. Don't hold me too that though.

I'll check it out, cheers!

I'm just waiting for a call back from Renault and I'll have made my decision before the end of today.

Thanks for your help... Hopefully next time I'm back I'll have my very own twingo ;)

Welcome along! I was expecting a lot more noise when driving on the motorway, but although it is a little noisy, you can put up with it, and forget about it after a while. Where abouts in Brum are you from?

I'm actually outskirts of Brum, in Brierley Hill

The one I looked at wasn't for me. I'm pretty set on getting one now though so I shall continue my hunt

What was wrong with the one you looked at?

Alloys were pretty beat up and the steering wheel kept twitching as I was driving (I'm guessing the two are related issues)
