While driving home, I pulled away from a set of lights normally, no revs just nice and gentle. Then BANG! and vibrations as I start driving down the road. Pulled over looked in the bay, underneath and around the wheels and could see nothing. Granted it was drank but nothing glaringly obvious. Drove it the last half mile home and it vibrates while in gear, out of gear its not so bad. I'm hoping it something simple like the exhaust has parted company and is lay on the x-member. Just had an MOT this afternoon as well, so I assume they would of picked up on any loose bits under the car.

Any ideas guys??

Cheers

Steve

Gearbox mounting... the one under the battery. If you have a phone with flash you might be able to get a picture under the battery tray

It was the gearbox mount. The bolt snapped!
This big one in the middle that suspends the box from the mount?

Bugger! There was no sign of rust either. Just a straight snap. Which is odd as the box was under no strain. Strange!!

The cars just gone over 3 years there's no chance Renault will do anything for me is there??

Hi
I have just done the same to my bolt, did you get a direct replacement from a Renault garage?
Do you know the yield or tensile strength bolt?

Harry

Renault have come back and said, car is under warranty for 2 more days!! So are collecting the car and fixing it! They where very helpful which I was shocked at!

Thats good to hear

As for the bolt / Stud spec, its not a standard off the shelf bolt, so specs and grades would be worked out at the design stage and difficult to guess at a suitable alternative replacement

What do you have to buy from Renault for this piece? I'm guessing you can't just buy the bolt, but instead an entire section from them as usual?

I don't know. It could be just the pin if its one of the sacrificial parts to save (lessen the chance of) damaging the gearbox in a crash

For mine, it snapped and you also loose the top rubber mount. So you have to buy both. Yes genuine Renault only.

Unless monster sport have some spare from building upgrading rally cars?
