hey all,

i have a dilema.. im majorly torn between the twingo 133 (with cup chassis etc) and the clio rs200!!!

can anyone give me an idea on the pro's and con's between the 2 to help my decision a little easier?! :?

What are you after? Clio obviously much quicker, although on a twisty set of roads you would probably hav just as much if not more fun in a twingo. The clio feels quite a bit heavier, cos it is. It's also much more expensive to run. Are you after outright speed? Purely fun? Looks?

Welcome.

You've come to a site where we love our 133's so you'll get a lot of good write ups here :) .

Whilst the Twingo is a great car - the Clio will be that little bit faster, bit more luxury inside etc. However, with the 133 you will undoubtably save on tax, insurance, petrol etc, and in my eyes is just as much fun on a twisty back road.

I find my 133 not that much less practical than my Clio was, though you will definitely only get 4 people in a Twingo. And of course - a 200 will be more expensive to buy.

Am sure you'll get lots of responses - if I think of anything else I'll tag it on.

well im buying the car with some inheritance money **RIP Gdad :'(** and wasnt planning on spending more than 10k on a car! but the cars ive looked at are gona cost me more than that, so ive up'ed my budget to 15k.. i want something thats not going to cost me an arm and a leg to run (petrol, tax, insurance etc) but that looks shexy, is fun to drive, will turn heads, and has a bit of punch if i get heavy footed on the right ;)

i will also need to be able to get my fishing kit in the back, so must consider how long the rod tubes are (about 6.5-7ft without measuring them!) but i can get it all in a KA fairly esaily..

ive not actually seen a twingo yet, but my local dealer has a member of staff that drives one, so im going to test drive it, and a clio, on thursday!

From what you have written the twinge sounds prefect!
I went from a Clio to a twingo and never regret a thing!
It is deffinatly bigger than a ka, I know two people with them and it is bigger.
Also for storage in the back the two seats fold down and push right forward. You could have one down - or two.
But if your looking for sexy then the clio ftw.
But to be honest, practicality and expense shout twingo everytime!

(plus you have us happy bunch on here when you've got one)

Tbh if you want a good car that turns heads then you want a twingo, you hardly see any on the road, there are loads of clios. I'd say its just a bit more unique :)

yeah im more swayed by the twingo purely for cost lol!! and ive seen 2 clio rs200 and no twingos at all!! would be nice to be, safe to say, the only one in northampton!! :p

The main thing to take into account with the Clio 200 is the running costs compared to a Twingo 133. That was the big factor for me in terms of buying the Twingo.

Ok so it doesn't have quite the straight line speed of a 200 but a Cup chassis'd Twingo will handle just as well as a Clio 200. The advantage of the 133 is that you'll get 34mpg at least round town and 45mpg+ on a long run. Even with a 6th gear the 200 will see 25mpg-ish round town and mid 30s on a run. Plus tax and insurance is a lot higher.

The 200 is an epic car but the 133 doesn't offer realistically less thrills but for a lot less cash. :)

You wont be the only one when I move there, well I'm not a 133 but I look like one :)

Take it from me your not. I go through northampton every wednesday to get to college and saw 2 others today so they are about just a pain to find.

Just about a perfect summary from the Good Doctor imho :geek:

Twingo is smaller and lighter and that's why I was happy to go from a Civic to a Twingo as 90% of my driving is urban roads - another reason why I happily skipped on the cup pack (and old age)

I manage about 28mpg round town and 35 at best on a long run bust be the traffic queues or my fat foot

cheers for all your advice guys :D ive decided that, purely based on cost, to go for the twingo :D

i test drove both clio rs200 and twingo 133 with cup chassis yesterday.. and i REAAAAAAALY want the clio now lol! but being realistic, im going with the twingo as i dont wana have to sell the clio cuz i cant afford to run it!!

now.. one question.. when you say "full fat" what exactly do you mean by that? im guessing something to do with the options, but i really dont have a clue!! :$

there's the standard car (called full fat as it has air con, auto lamps and wipers and the higher spec rear seats and tints) and the cup which has none of those but the cup suspension. The cup suspension is available on the full fat too at an extra cost

ahh i see now! my other half wants me to get the sunroof on it aswell! im not so sure lol

It's a rare option... think the only other oen I can think of with it is Alex's mrs' car which is a full fat with cup chassis black and white id pack'd car

As Maggi says, my Mrs car has the panoramic roof. Tis a pricey option at around £700 but you get climate control with it. Must say on a GW Twingo it looks cool having a black glass roof plus it's a nice option on the right day :)
