Hey I'm Jake from leyland in Lancashire. Currently drive a 2009 swift sport in metallic red.
Getting a bit bored now and wanted to try the Renault range so went today for a test drive in a silver 133 twingo and a 197 Clio .

Few things the twingo was should I say on here not half as quick as my swift even though it has around 10 bhp more. It only felt like it started to shift at like 6k and then bang rev change light flashing up.

Also it was very basic inside I mean no engine temp display no ESP off button ( if it even has ESP?) also no mpg display....or am I missing these.

Apart from that there definitely was something about it lol I just can't put my finger on it. Seats very comfy and ride was firm but bearable..

Is the cup chassis to stiff for the roads around here and is it a must box to tick?
Cheers guys sorry for the long post lol

Welcome to the forum!

There's no engine temperature gauge, but it does have ESP which can be turned off.

Welcome

ESP is in the dash to the left of the steering wheel but down abit.

The rest it hasnt got but to be fair do you need them?

Also the power comes in at 4k not 6k

Cheers guys I'm not slating the car one bit I did really like it was something different like the swift I like exclusivity and the 133 has got that. Also the orange seatbelts were awesome lol..
What's it like to live with day to day also on long drives. Fuel wise also cheers people

I cant comment as i use a bike to and from work and the Twingo is my bit of fun.

Long drives it doesnt bother me all i do wish it had a 6th gear but it turns heads so keeps me happy  Fuel isnt to bad i wouldnt say but then again fuel will depend on how you drive.

I've just stopped doing a 70mile a day round trip daily in mine and it was fine. Fuel, like Karl says, depends how u drive it. Anything from 28mpg to 45.

I also know where there's a nice red one going cheap ;)

Welcome to the forum and get one. U won't be disappointed

Cheers..ye I am really tempted just don't want to regret it as the swift is a good car just was something I couldnt put my finger on with the twingo..
Is the cup pack a good extra ? Also any thing to lookout for buying a used one?
Thanks

anybody would think your trying to give your car away.

Cup chassis is a need. Personally i look at if you your buying a Renaultsport theres no point in buying one without the cup pack.

I drove a swift sport before getting the RS 133. I wouldn't say there is much in it in-terms of performance at all, for me the twingo felt Little quicker, but you do have the rev the nuts off it were as the swift felt a little more relaxed about life. The 6th gear also makes things a little more chilled.

The interior in the swift is much better put together, sure there is some nasty plastics lurking but it does feel of a higher quality than the twingo, maybe a little dull in terms of design, but the twingos is far from perfect.

There is no thing the swift simply can't hold a candle to the twingo cup on, road holding, sure it's good but the way you can fling a twingo cup about is unholy.

Having never driven the non cup twingo I can't compare it to a swift sport. I bet the two are very similar. is there a more hardcore version of the swift sport? Like a cup version of a twingo?

I will be looking at the new swift sport when it's time to change the twingo only because the new twingo is hideous.

Welcome to the Forum.

I have to say, my brother has a 59 Swift Sport (in Metallic Red as well funilly enough) and the cars, side by side are pretty well matched.
On driving my car, my brother noted a better pull low down and still a blast to drive.
Yes, it only Revs to 7 instead of 7.25 but it doesn't need the nuts revved off it to go

ESP Button is below the steering column and doesn't require holding for 5 seconds ;)
Temp wise....well, just give it 10 mins to warm up and don't rev the nuts off it from cold :D
Yes, it does not have an MPG meter :( one of my bug bears of the car...

I've felt the interior on the Twingo is much nicer than the Swift, lacks the rattly plastic feel of my brother's.

Cup Chassis is the icing on the cake though, completely changes the car for the best :)

Customisation - MUCH MORE PARTS FOR THE SSS SADLY :(

Driving, compared to the Swift is much of a muchness to be honest, more or less same gearing so expect to sit around 4k at 80mph...RIGHT ON THE POWER BAND!

Economy wise, very similar to Swift Sport from Calculations, but all depends how you drive it...

Hope this helps man :)

if you are interested in having engine temp then make sure it has the option of the renaultsport monitor pack

Which prety much narrows down the search to a Silverstone edition unless your lucky to find a FF with it

They do but certainly more of a guide than anything. Useful nonetheless

Ok most things have been mentioned here!
All ile say is, I bought my first Twingo rs without cup package. Wanted to save money etc. I regretted it from day 1!

Now I have the silverstone model, I am soo happy! The cup package makes a huge difference! And the alloys are so much nicer!!

Get the cup!!! I can also recommend the silverstone version. The rs monitor is great fun! And the car just looks stunning!!!
Have a look at my previous posts for pics etc!

All the best!
