Just got myself a lovely GT for practicality reasons after owning MX5s for 8 years. Have to say, what a hoot to drive. It's a well kept little secret.

hi mate, good to see more scottish folk (glasgow folk yass) joining up. welcome to the club! i definitely agree that the little 1.2 turbo's are a lot of fun. however, i give it about a month before you can't sleep at night for thinking about modifications! some folk have seen their GT's hit the 170 bhp mark

Already thinking about an ecu flash, but I think the brakes need upgrading first. Got terrible fade on Friday night trying to keep up with some mx5 friends.

trying to keep up? if it's not a turbo'd mx5 you should be leaving those little pieces of heaven for dead

if you want the best discs and pads possible, then look at brembo max discs + ferodo ds2500's! you can get the discs on ebay for 70 odd quid, and you'll be able to find the ferodos with google. expensive, but i wouldn't skimp on brakes especially if you're a leisurely driver! nudge nudge

With standard discs? Will this eliminate the brake fade?

nah, the standard discs are just cast iron. the thermal properties of cast iron are crap, especially when mated with good quality fast road / track day pads like EBC / Ferodo

you'll want to at least get some brembo hc discs (around 30 pounds on ebay) at a minimum, or go for the brembo max discs (70 on ebay) to eliminate brake fade but at this point ... you're only going to stop as fast as your tyres will allow, so no point in getting good brakes if your tyres aren't super grippy!

I just want to have the confidence that when I go for the pedal, it's still firm. Was shocked how quickly I lost feel when pushing on. Will have a look at the Brembo stuff.
