Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and have many questions and some opinions too. but I will start off with questions.
In my job I travel around 15k a year, I want a nice motor to take me on my journies. I want a car that is not to expensive to run, looks the part, has enough space for me, wife, daughter and dog. I also want a bit of the fun factor.
I currently drive a Nissan Juke, don't diss the Juke, it has been great, over 90k, owned since new, never let me down, still got one original tyre, been brilliant, but I want to revisit my youth and the Juke doesn't do this for me.
My dilemma is pretty obvious as you will see. I am down to 2 motors, and I am sure you can all guess what the Twingo's arch nemesis is??????????????????????????????????????????? SWIFT.
They are both so closely matched and each camp will argue the merits over the other. I hope that people in this club are honest enough to give praise where due.
The thing that gets it for me with the Twingo being the winner is EXCLUSIVITY and space, I have owned a swift in the past and seat space is good, but boot space is poor (remember the dog ((hairy Husky))The Twingo has sliding rear seats? The car that I am interested in is the Gordini Twingo. As far as I am aware only 2000 were made??
is the Twingo a car that will be reliable for me over the coming years. I am hoping to drop the mileage to around 10k a year, and I will cherish the Twingo. I do mostly motorway miles and rarely travel more than 120 miles a day when out of the office.
I hope that you feel that I want to buy this car, I just need to know that it will be the right kind of car for me and is reliable. I also want to keep it long term as a potential investment. I am certain that in a few years it will achieve classic car status.

The twingo is definitely more practical with the rear seats, being able to slide and flod against front seats. i can't really comment on reliability yet because I haven't had the twingo long enough. For long journeys the cup chassis might be a killer if your used to a comfy car. The swift might be a better car for long journeys, also the swift is slightly quicker in a straight line but the twingo will be quicker round track due to the cup chassis.
 
Yeah I second that about the cup chassis. I would try on and see what you and the wife thinks and feels. Could always go for a non cup chassis version but then that wont be a gordini. I think the value of the 133 is on the low side for a RenaultSport product that is also very rare.
 
Cheers for the info, I thought the Gordini could be specified without the cup chassis. I have had mini's in the past, could handle a hard ride. I do believe, given another 5 years or so, prices will start to bottom out for older twingo's. Presently I am not at all impressed with the new twingo. The swift sports are also a little too common and servicing is every 10k, for me that would be more than once a year.
 
Doing that sort of mileage the lack of a sixth gear will become a pain. 90 MPH is 5000 RPM in fifth in a Twingo RS.

I recommend you drive both first. The later Swifts have 6 gears and are a better all round car than the Twingo without doubt.
 
Agree with k4m-rs, with the miles you'll be doing and motorway I'd avoid the twingo tbh. As much as I love mine it's really not suitable for long motorway work it can get quiet noisy but if funs more important to you than practicallerty then it's hard to beat a 133 for price/performance it's like driving a little rally car out on those country roads :)
