Aye thats with mam and dad down as named drivers too fully comp. Was £2250 just by myself with no named drivers...and that was my cheapest quote.

I put my misses on my insurance as a named driver as it brought my insurance down :)

Same happened with me, I put the girlfriend on both my policies and save £100 on each one. She puts me on hers and saves £100 as well, where's the logic haha.

I have to say though, some of the younger people on here are mental when it comes to how much you're paying for insurance. I do mean that in the nicest possible way.

Out of principle I've never paid more than £1k for any car, hence waiting until I was 21 before buying a 172. Prior to that I stuck with 1.2 Clios and only paid about £600ish. Adtmittedly the Twingo 133 is in that bracket of hot hatches where it's not silly expensive to run and insure but being under 21 trying to insure one is massively expensive!

That is why i waited till i was over 21 to get a 1.6 as what is the point in insuring a car that is worth less then the cost of your insurance.

i paid £1600 for my 1.2 clio when i was 17 drop to £1000 then £700 each year but back up to £1000 for the twingo

i payed £1800 for a 1.2 corsa when i first started driving at 17, then £1300 for yaris t sport 1.5 when i was 18 with one years no claims. now £1750 for the twingo when its only one group higher!

Unfortunately insurance for young drivers is a total rip off, I've been driving ten years and the only two claims I've ever had were off other people's policies, where they hit my car.

Just by being young it doesn't by default make someone careless. Admittedly, I think that a lower powered car is probably a good thing for the majority of new drivers.

I suppose I just never had that need for the fastest car I can insure so was happy with low powered hatches for the first few years.

Karl he knows the person who insured him on a personal level if the underwriters were to find out then his insurance would be void
