so recently i have been looking at insurance quote's on go-compare and they make no sense what so ever. i got a year ncb last week and i have been looking at quotes with idea's for my next car. the price make's no sense what so ever here are some quotes i got.

TOYOTA SOARER TWIN TURBO 2491cc £2314.38

clio 197 was about £4k

clio 182 was £4100

honda integra dc2 was £2480

106 gti was £2961

my point is a twin turbo SOARER 280bhp is cheaper than a 106 gti ffs...

The bmw i got a few week's ago was £3k on insurance so it got sold for a tidy profit ;)

rant over twingo's staying for another year then untill the dc2 insurance is cheaper :)

I think a 106gti would be more expensive because of the association with the type of driver
Certain cars in certain colours are deemed high risk I believe and cost more for that reason weird I know but I think that's why :/

I moan about mine and paying around £70 a month with every extra under the sun breakdown etc.

Its not all about the performance. All the risks are taken into account from average cost of repairs to the likely hood of a driver of that car smacking it.

Yep. It's all statistics. Corsas may be slow but if 90% of chavs crash em, they'll possibly be more expensive than a much faster car driven by 60 year olds who never crash.

Seems insurance for me has reached the point where it's cheap cheap. Woop. Except for the civic type r. That seems to be the only car that's still stupidly expensive when I've tried. Double the price of the megane 265. Still, can't complain at £1k for a civic.

I just tried a few cars.

For now, my car is insured on my mom's name and me as second driver.

Full coverage for a year is a good 850€ (don't know the exact number) and I drive it everyday but this is allowed in Belgium. I know in the UK this can be seen as fraud..

Know I tried insuring my own car on my own name and it jumps to 1200€..

Strangely, I tried a Clio RS Angel & Demon (kinda like the Clio Rs Raider) and surprisingly it was 1500€. Thats not so bad.. tried a GT86 and it went to 1700€.

A Honda Civic 1.8 Vtec was also 1500€ which has 140 bhp..

Gt86 was under the £500 mark for me in my own name ;) never had anything but my own policy

Only ever take out 12 month policies. Small print usually means that If you want a years no claims like they suggest you earn on 10 month policies, then you're stuck with them for the next year.

That's the reason I bought the Twingo. I have 3 years no claims and to insure a 1.0 ltr Kia Picanto would have been almost £1100 and the Twingo only £500...

mad to think that in a months time i will have 8 years no claims :S (just jinxed myself now) cannot believe i been driving that long, only seems like yesterday i passed.

My i-music costs more than a renaultsport twingo to insure. Figure that out :p

I suppose it's more of a young lads car? :/ insurance really confuses the hell out of me I swear sometimes they just make it up on the spot

I guess they don't get wrapped round lamposts and put into fields as much as 106gtis so the companies see them as a lower risk

unfortunately its all on stats,
it was slightly cheaper for me to drive my dads tts than it was a 1.2 clio just because more young people drive and crash clios.

suppose but a 2.5 twin turbo which u can see 400bhp from a few mod's. they still make so sense in my eye's ;)

i bet all your insurance company's sit a table and discuss about a car roll some dice and thats the exact amount you have to pay :D

im quit shocked about that soarer 2.5 twin turbo :p

For ***** and giggles my renewal shot up to £1980 got it down to £818 without ringing up.

Renewal is due 19th April so if I can get it cheaper then that's better.
