To be clear, I'm no hater of Apple. They're good products but I refuse to buy their products.

I have a first generation iTouch though that I got as a gift from my dad. It's a good product but have barely used it for the past year.

1,5 year ago I got the Sony Xperia Play. Back then I compared it with the Iphone 4 and looking at its specs it was better and cheaper than an iPhone + its a downgraded PSP so the games you can play with it are also better (real buttons + joysticks)

Same again now, compared the Iphone 5 with the Sony Xperia Ion (and the Samsung Galaxy SIII but Samsung isn't my thing) and again I see no reason to buy an iPhone 5 other than having iOS6 or Android 4.0 OS and paying almost double the amount for an iPhone 6 instead of the Xperia

I don't get what the fuzz is always about and certainly why people camp outside a store for a freaking 'phone'.

Went to go buy one yesterday...sold out -_-

I don't know why I like them so much, but I pick up the likes of the sony and the samsung's...and they just don't do it for me.

Got to be an iPhone for me...

I love my iPhone to bits and am due an upgrade in October but not sure if I wana get the 5. People say the Samsung is better but I will probably get more use out of the iPhone. Will be taking maggi with me and hopefully sort my problem out!

This is a general post, but thought I'd try and write out some of my thoughts given that I'm quite the techie.

I used to love the iPhone, and coveted them for quite a while. After other things my first iPhone was a 3GS which was awesome until it started to die after a year and a half. Luckily I'd paid out the extra for the apple care so got a new replacement at 22 months in which was pretty good. Kept using it and thinking it was awesome for a long while.

I keep up with lots of tech info, and when it came time for me to change I couldn't justify the iPhone as a premier device. It is more expensive, much more limited (has good and bad aspects), and after going around and trying all the competition it felt like I was using a much more developed and better flowing system on other devices.

For me, as some developers start to develop and link apps how they really want to, the iOS mechanism is becoming awkward. What takes one button press on my phone takes 3 or 4 on an iPhone. There's also no longer that stand-out feature which makes iPhone better than anything else. Whilst other people may find using an iPhone easier, I'd say at least go and give the competition a chance next time you have to change. (And be willing to look at doing things a different way - something isn't necessarily wrong if it uses a different mechanism, it can be better)

Whilst I do still think iPhones are very good, and it would by no means be a bad choice to have one, in my view they are no longer the best, and what I considered to be the best is cheaper and very very awesome. There are lots of very accomplished alternatives, so why not at least have a look and be willing to see if you like them.

+ 1

Well I just picked up my iPhon5 64gb and so far I'm quite impressed.

It does what it's meant to do and it does it well. There's a lot of attention to small details that have improved it. Admittedly I've only had it a few hours and it's on charge but so far I'm impressed.

As with most Apple things, it just does what it's meant to without fuss. I've had my iPhone 4 for 2 years now and it's been brilliant. Used every day for surfing the web and playing games on the train, never lets me down and even the battery life is still good. Hope my 5 gives me the same treatment. :)

Well I'm utterly annoyed! After waiting 2weeks for my order, it gets to the delivery date to find... Nothing... Phone up again, oh we have gone out of stock again! We will deliver within 30 days! 30DAYS!! I am not a happy bunny!

Is it a case of they didn't get the stock in? or have they sold the one you had on order?

That's pretty irritating. You ordering through Apple themselves, or going via a carrier/reseller?

They were out of stock, then they got stock in 2days ago, now they're out of stock again and I don't get my phone... Whether they didn't order enough to cover them or they sold mine I don't know. Either way they are gonna get a bloody earful!

I'd be asking for compensation, if you've placed an order an they have given you a date for the phone and then they've obviously not ordered enough/sold yours...

My boss asked for his off vodafone the day it came out, 21st i think? said its gonna be 3/4 weeks.. And that he will get £10 a week of his bill its not there..

I got my sisters upgrade (iphone 5) from the orange shop on the 25th there and then, no problems! Love it :D
