Lowering Springs

Could anyone recommend a set of good but cheap lowering springs please?
I own a 1.2 twingo mk2 08 plate.
The only springs I can find are either very expensive or do not fit a mk2.
 
look on ebay for ''clio mk2 coilovers 58mm bolt spacing. should be around 270'' these fit onto the twingo 1.2 and twingo GT.

the standard shock absorbers are crap on a GT, and will fail within a year and cost 60-70 a corner. lowering springs are not made to work with standard shock absorbers so you'll only end up paying out your backside! i ran my rear springs on standard rear shocks for a while and in the space of fitting them, 2 months down the line they were misting a film of oil basically rendering them useless and broken. not very sasfe :)

im sure a few others on here would agree with this
 
they're coilovers, so very safe and sturdy. you can choose your ride height (well im assuming a mechanic will choose it for you and you can tell him higher, lower) ive had these coilovers and they're very firm but all coilovers are. turns the twingo into the stereotypical 'go kart'.one small word of warning, being for the clio they will need the rear spring seats to be cut to remove two little grooves so that the rear springs will sit in the perch...stanley blade does the trick, any mechanic should see know what to do here lol :)

they are 'ta technix' coilovers, german company. cheap and very cheerful, popular with the VW boys

good price, and from a trusted seller not an ebay stranger :) i'd advise to go with those. i'm sure the guys at kam racing will explain how it's a bad idea to use lowering springs on oem shock absorbers.... people don't realise that it's a false economy to throw on lowering springs onto the original shock absorbers.

now for the boring bit
a spring works by ... well you know how a spring works lol, but the job of the shock absorber is to reduce spring oscillation (the bouncing motion of the spring to simplify things)
. if you can imagine the wave form in the picture below each wave being one complete bounce down and up the longer wave is a done shock absorber that's humped, the shorter wave that ends quicker is a shock absorber that is working perfectly in tune with the spring rate which is what coilovers provide you with. the springs are matched to the shock absorbers :)

pretty boring but it's better to know truths rather than listen to people who don't know much about anything!
 
to be honest I personally would spend a bit more and go for a better coilover kit as that is a budget kit so will never give the same ride quality as something like Bilstein, BC Racing or KW.. Ultimately its what you can afford that will decide things though as I know going from looking at springs to decent coilovers is a big leap..
