Bit of a work in progress this fellas, in between the rotten weather and downpours :(

Dont know if this is typical of all "striped" cars, but mine had quite a lot of fine scratches either side of the stripes where Renault have squeegeed the bubbles out etc.

And you can see in between the stripes the haze and fine scratches

Taping up the edges was a ball ache

Anyway, I'd washed the car outside and clayed the whole of the roof and bonnet with Sonus Green fine clay.
Washed to remove residue and rinsed and dried, the outlook seemed bleak so I rolled it into the garage. ;)
Plenty of room to get all round.

Surface scratches were only very fine and after a bit of experimentation, Lake Country orange light cut/polishing pad with Lime Prime was giving good results.
Local areas adjacent to stripes were hit with Menz Power Finish and hand polished right up to the edges upon removing 3m tape.

In between stripes showed massive improvements in clarity and gloss.

And later this afternoon I had a spin out and it bloody threw it down.
Made for some nice beading shots though. :)
This was after 3 coats of Jeffs Werkstatt Acrylic Jett trigger sealant.

Sorry if there are a lot of pics

Nice long drive out in the morning, will probably wash it again Saturday morning and polish the rest of it. :D

nice beading , wish i could make my car bead like that with hand waxing

This needs a title of ****, pictures like that should be illegal!!

Joking aside good work and now immensely clean. Need to have a go over mine to loose the fine scratches

Once again, jealous. Wish I had the time to give mine a serious cleaning session

Thanks fellas.
I've had 3 weeks off work and this is the first bit of detailing I've been able to do!

My last day off today, start new job on Monday.

Cheers dude. Looking forward to it. Last job was there 6 years.
New one I can go in office when I want, work from home when I want.

....so if anyone wants any steelwork fabrication, chutes, hoppers, access stairs/walkways etc etc....
....shameless plug I know, drop me a PM. ;)

Its all in the prep work.
Get a clay bar and clay the car first to make the paintwork as smooth as possible before polishing.
A hand polish followed by a good sealant or wax will still bead like mad. ;)

Yep that's my method and it's good advice. Don't want to risk my paint with a machine polisher as I don't know how to use one lol.

You'd really have to be a bit of a hooligan to damage your paint with a dual action.
They are pretty forgiving, for what they cost (£100) theyre worth it. I suppose youve got all the products to buy but if you're smart you only need 2 or 3 pads and 2 polishes max.

Ive had my Porter Cable for about 5 or 6 years years and its paid for itself many many times over. :D

I am a hooligan hence I don't fancy trying it. Re sprays cost a lot lol

I gave my car a good hand polish n wax not long ago and these were my attempts of beading, I still want to looking into a machine polisher.
