sounds more like the clutch is just done, saw standard dci100's that have had a hard life towing do simmilar once they need a clutch, but change the clutch and you can remap them and they will handle it, when mine was starting to really open up when i was piling miles on it, it was getting quicker and quicker but was starting to have difficulty especially on cold mornings with lower inlet temps putting the torque through the clutch @ 2000rpm, but 2500rpm+ was fine.

as i said im not sure if these use the same clutch but id find it a bit strange if they didnt.
