That and the noise it makes when you hit a bump as a result of the crossmember.

Rear is a piece of piss, assuming you get the seats all set right. Although I'm sure the weitecs come with their own seat cushions for the rear springs

How far are the fronts wound down? I can't see how the new solid mounts will be different, being a replacement for the originals they should be able to work to the same geometry I guess, and potentially suffer the same issue. Should be a good improvement anyway

I just remembered something.. The guy cut a piece off from the bump stops (not too much or it will get chrashy).

He says you need to do this if you want to be able to get the car lowered nicely and he greased the coilovers to prevent future problems of being not able to adjust the coilovers anymore because they're completely rusted.

At the moment the fronts are around halfway wound, they're almost perfect height to be honest. The knocking I'm hoping to get sorted today, gonna take off the top mounts and attach them again and see what happens!

The solid mounts bolt through the chassis as well as using the top nut so they'll be a lot tighter I think. Won't get them for a little bit though, they don't come cheap

Rears didn't come with seat cushions but I'm using the ones off the standard springs, little trouble to get them on but it fits together nicely. I'll have some more pictures up soon, possibly tomorrow once I've levelled the heights properly

Mine's lowered as far as I want it without any real modification so I think I'll be ok for now :) not going for a slammed look anyway, leaving maybe a finger of arch gap as I have new tyres going on next week (with any luck)

I'm going to buy some copper grease as well today, thought I had some but seem to have misplaced it

So, the coilies are finally on, and on properly! although I'm having a height issue.

For some reason, although both adjusters on the back springs are exactly the same height (wound all the way to the top to make it as low as they'll go) my driver side seems around 20mm higher. Absolutely no idea why, only things I can think of are possible problems with the spring or damper but I honestly don't know.

The front almost seems the same but not as extreme as the back, maybe 5mm difference in the front.

Anyone else ever had this problem? And if so how did you overcome it? I'll be in contact with K-Tec today as well to try and troubleshoot the issue. Other than this the car feels and drives great. Feels stiffer and a lot smoother round corners, what little body roll there was is now basically gone and with the AD08s going on this week it'll be even better!

I did. The issue was my drive wasn't even  tape measure out in a car park I had ensured was level and the issue didn't exist all of a sudden, but not before I had spent hours trying to solve it!

I've got the Wietec coilovers on mine as well. I had the issues with the knocking from all 4 corners. Mine were actually fitted by K-Tec.

I'm going there next weeks for 3 days for some more goodies and top mounts are on the list.

How did you resolve the knocking?

I thought this too, but 20mm seems like a significant difference! I'll take it to a properly flat place later and give it a measure and see what happens! If not then I'm stuck....

Oh. Then test I did in the end was to undo the lower bolts and let it rest on the springs and you would quickly see if it's the struts or the springs resulting in the uneven height.

I haven't as of yet, the back knocks over every bump and my front mounts are only as tight as I can get them, popping to a garage in a minute to see if they can tighten them fully. Hopefully the front will stop knocking then.

Failing that, alloy top mounts are next on my list ;) haha

With the wheels on or off? When I put them on over the weekend they seemed fine and level to me. Springs look evenly compressed at the moment so it leads me to think it might be the dampers.

If the dampers prove to be the problem is there any way to overcome it? Or will they need replacing?

Sorry I actually thought I said on the back undo the lower bolts. Do it with wheels on, it'll sit on the springs (as it's only the springs on the back that should dictate the height).

I guessed you meant the back ;) ok cool thanks, I'll give that a go when I get a spare 10 minutes. Hopefully I manage to sort it, sorting the height properly is an absolute 'mare. Front passenger side is a tiny bit lower than driver side, needs one more turn. Just so much effort jacking, taking the wheel off and then reverse

The under tray needs to come off too, those silly fins at the front scrape on things  the guys at work heard me scraping into the car park before they saw me

Yep I chopped 30mm off mine and they're now not even where bits have chipped off. Sounds worse than it is though!

Took me ages playing till I was happy with the height side to side on mine

Yeah I get the feeling I'm gonna playing with the heights for a while! It looks at the front but a little impractical and the back is too high. Need to take my adjuster rings off the back but it's so much effort :(

Keep in mind that coilies or springs need to 'settle' in.

I had to wait a couple of weeks before doing the alignement.

Oh yeah definitely, mine have been on for just over a week now. I hate driving with the alignment out. It makes me sad

I had the same issue with very uneven ride heights with Weitec coilovers on my Audi. The first set of rear springs had one perch fully up and the other fully down to get it anywhere near level but I had run out of travel to get it spot on. The second set of springs were better but still a large difference in perch height to get the body level. The fronts weren't much better either and it ended up with a set of KW springs as replacements. It was a complete feck about and I wouldn't touch them again after that.

When I sold it, I put the original Audi 70K miles suspension back on and it sat level within a mm or two without any messing about ;)
